War On Error: David Chaytor’s Non Existent Mortgage
LET’S play Tabloid Bingo! See if you can join up the following stories abgout David Chaytor, Tam Dalyell and Jason Mackie, 21, from Oxfordshire, who was travelling in the Basharan area of central Helmand…
A Royal Marine who was killed instantly when an explosive struck his vehicle in Afghanistan has been named.
LABOUR MP David Chaytor claimed £13,000 in interest payments for a mortgage that had already been repaid, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Chaytor says he made an “unforgivable error” in continuing to submit £1,175 monthly bills for months after the loan was paid off.
The Telegraph says Mr Chaytor will pay back £13,000.
And better than this the odious Tam Dalyell, what the tabloids would call a Labour toff:
Tam Dalyell, the former father of the House of Commons, is accused of trying to claim £18,000 for bookcases two months before he retired as an MP in 2005.
He told Sky News: “I understand people’s anger but I thought morally it was a very legitimate and constructive expense.”
It’s that kind of thinking that gets you into politics…

Ah well at least the police have been called in, and the DT have a million or so receipts.
