The Respect Party Curls Up Its Toes
THE Annual Accounts of the Respect party makes for an interesting read. Fringe political parties - like UKIP, Greens, Veritas, the BNP and Labour - come and go:
Following the split in Respect in 2007 and the contestation of ownership of the party for most of 2008 the party suffered a large loss in both membership and income.
This is reflected in the drop in annual income from £210,093 to £36,237.35 and expenditure from £202,608 to £40,1515.16 between year end 2007 and 2008. This fall in overall turnover reduced the national organisation to a shoestring operation that employed no full or part-time permanent staff in 2008. It also witnessed a fall in membership from 2,472 members in 2007 to just over 500 by end 2008.
Many Respect branches ceased functioning. By the end of 2008 it was possible to identify ten functioning branches with about a dozen smaller groups of Respect supporters that were in a position to create a Respect branch in 2009.
…
The deficit of £3,913.81 recorded in the 2008 accounts is composed of income still to be received for publications by the national organisation and election expenses still to be recovered by the fundraising activities of local branches involved.

The BNP got more votes than Bob Crow’s No2EU and SSP in Scotland. The reds are as dead as dodos.

This is reflected in the drop in annual income from £210,093 to £36,237.35 and expenditure from £202,608 to “”£40,1515.16 “”" between year end 2007 and 2008
That’s a bit Confusing!!!
.deficit of ONLY £3,913.81 recorded in the 2008 accounts is composed of income still to be received for publications by the national organisation and election expenses still to be recovered by the fundraising activities It could be getting processed so we should not jump the gun!!
Latest on other parties,
Political parties whose gross income and total expenditure is below £250,000 are required to submit their statement of accounts within four months of the end of their financial year 258 political parties have reported spending of between £0 and £25,000.
17 parties have reported spending between £25,000 and £100,000
Six parties have reported spending between £100,000 and £250,000. These parties are:
Alliance - Alliance Party of Northern Ireland
Communist Party of Great Britain
Democratic Unionist Party - DUP
Left List
New Party
Progressive Unionist Party of Northern Ireland
Accounting unit income and expenditure
Political parties may register accounting units with the Electoral Commission. An accounting unit is a constituent or affiliated organisation of a political party and is responsible for its own financial affairs and transactions.
483 accounting units have reported gross income or total expenditure of between £25,000 and £250,000. The combined gross income of these accounting units was £28,983,884 and the combined total expenditure of these units was £27,736,281.
Late submissions
Ten parties and five accounting units have submitted their accounts to the Commission late. The Commission will impose civil penalties on these parties and accounting units.
“”"48″”" parties have yet to submit their accounts to the Commission, although this includes parties with expenditure or income of over £250,000. In the case of these parties with larger income and expenditure, the deadline for submission to the Commission is 7July and the accounts will be published on 30 July 2009.
So in fact The Respect Party were ahead of the other “”"258″”" political parties in getting there reports in on time AND they did not even have to have a paid member of staff looks to me that Harry’s place where this was dismissed
As always produced a little bit of worthless information but forgot the facts
