A nurse accused of tampering with saline solution at a hospital spoke today of her horror at being branded an ‘angel of death’ and ‘killer nurse’ by newspapers.
Newspapers. Care to name names? Well, the Daily Star wrote:
“NURSE IN ANGEL OF DEATH QUIZ” – Daily Star, July 21
“ANGEL Of Death suspect Rebecca Leighton was last night being quizzed over two more deaths as pals said: ‘She wouldn’t hurt a fly.'” – Daily Star July 22
“HERO NURSE NABS ‘ANGEL OF DEATH'” – Daily Star, July 23
Meanwhile, there is no proof that anyone was murdered or unlawfully killed at the hospital.
Greater Manchester Police are still investigating the deaths of three patients: Tracey Arden, 44, of Heaviley, Arnold Lancaster, 71, of Romiley, and Derek Weaver, 83, from Stockport. The belief is that all three were poisoned by the contaminated saline. But that might not have been the the cause of their deaths.
