4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days Wins Palm D’Or

IS there a certain kind of film that wins the big award?

How big a part does the old newspaper mantra “If it bleeds, it leads” play?

The best film in Cannes is, a voted by the great and good, 4 months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days. The Romanian film is named after the age of the film’s aborted foetus.

The film’s director Cristian Mungiu tells us:

“It looks a little bit to me like (a) fairytale,” a softly spoken Mungui said, adding that the triumph showed “you don’t necessarily need big budgets and big stars to make stories.”
