Poker Robots Run By Poker PRs

by | 22nd, February 2008

WE return now to the theme of poker robots.

Sorry, chaps, still having log in troubles. Have our log in details been altered?

We return now to the theme of poker robots. We return now to the theme of poker robots. We return now…

News from the Casino de Montreal where the world’s largest multi-table poker tournament ever run on automated poker tables is to be staged.

Of course, this is all about human intervention. It’s PR for the casino. But what of the bigger picture? Do we need croupiers? And isn’t this just like playing online poker in a bigger room with a shared toilet?

At the events 240 players required the presence of just 4 casino workers.

The event was own by Mohamed Nadim, an engineering student, who took home $20,000 CAD. Happy him.

“Running a tournament of this magnitude is what we always envisioned for PokerPro. We are pleased with the success of this tournament and proud of our partnership with Casino de Montreal,” says Chris Halligan, CEO of PokerTek, manufacturer of the PokerPro tables.

You see what I mean about the human element being vital to the support of robots. It’s more of a human stain. Do we need branding on poker tables?

Cards are cards are cards. Cash is cash. The make of table matters not a jot.

Presenting the Poker Anorak’s Invitational, brought to you, and made possible, by Anorak EZStool, in conjunction with Anorak Poker Carpets And Aces high Trousers At Anorak.

Mr Halligan is still talking: “The Quebecois players have embraced automated poker, as validated by the response to this tournament.”

Can he be stopped? Where’s the plug?
