Indian Students Banned From Wearing Jeans

by | 11th, June 2009

indian-jeansIN Uttar Pradesh, India, colleges have banned female students from wearing jeans and other Western clothes.

Why? Meeta Jamal, principal of the Dayanand girls’ college in Kanpur city tells AFP

“Girls who choose to wear jeans will be expelled from the college. This is the only way to stop crime against women.”

Yes. The only way to stop women from being sexually harassed is to pass bylaws restricting their freedoms. In India, sexual harassment is known as “Eve-teasing”.

Might it not be better to ban the men who make unwelcome sexual advances? Or make these men wear tight jeans and mini skirts?
