When ‘Mine Fuhrer’ Arthur Scargill Had Power – The Miners Strike In Photos

by | 25th, August 2010

ARTHUR Scargill has been expelled from the National Union of Mineworkers, the force he once led.

Yeah, who knew the miners still had a union and that the UK still had miners? In 1984, Scargill was a big news and the miners were powerful.

Then the strike was broken and the union was weakened.

The news gets odder still when we learn that Scargill will remain honorary president of the union.

Says Scargill:

“A number of us have been raising claims of financial irregularity in the union and I believe we are now being subjected to a witch-hunt because of this. We will definitely challenge this decision, which has been made on extremely spurious grounds.”

He’s got fight left in him – but he’s now fighting with his own side.

Do you remember when Britain battled and politics mattered?
