Nottinghamshire Council Refuse Veteran Disabled Parking Permit – Say Leg Might Grow Back

by | 28th, August 2010

LANCE-corporal Johno Lee, who lost his leg in Afghanistan, has had his application for disabled parking permit rejected by Nottinghamshire County Council. He has applied for the blue badge three times.

The veteran from Lance-corporal Lee, from Coddington, says when he first applied the council told him that he “may get better”.

That’s the way to keep the lad’s spirits up. It might get better. Chin up! Says Mr Lee:

“I replied that they possibly didn’t quite understand the situation and that I thought it unlikely that my leg would grow back. Sometimes the leg swells so badly I can’t even get the prosthetic leg on.

“I then have to park in disabled bays otherwise I can’t get into town, but then I get a ticket.”

To date, he has been handed £800 in fines. His leg has yet to regrow…
