War Hero Darren “Doc” Lee Needs You – Or Else
LONGTIME Iowahawk readers will recall my old Ozark hotrodding medico friend Darren “Doc” Lee from Operation Dumb-Vee, where we successfully conspired to plaster Doc’s Army unit’s vehicles with morale-boosting refridgerator magnets from home, during his stint in Iraq. You also may recall that Doc is my go-to supplier of, um, “Ozark hair tonic.”
I am sad to report that Doc was recently the victim of a terrible garage accident while restoring his righteous Falcon Ranchero. Long story short, the O2 ring on his oxy-acetylene welding rig failed, launching the hose. Doc’s nose was broken in 3 places, and suffered a severe eye injury (ripped eyelid detached retina, displaced lens). He is currently in the hospital facing some surgery this week. Whether his eye can regain function, he will be out of work for some time.
I very seldom ask you guys for anything, but I am hoping you might please provide a little moral and financial support for Doc to see him through the difficult times ahead. Prayers are good, especially when accompanied by a little cash. If you have some to spare, you can PayPal it to Doc at
Or you can send it the old fashioned way to

Anything you can do to help will be deeply appreciated, especially if you can make this appeal viral through your blog or social media site.
