Danny Cohen Is Controller Of BBC One: The Media Quango Look After Its Own
DANNY Cohen is the new Controller of BBC One. He also sits on the board of BBC Vision Board *.
You might know Danny from his work as Controller of BBC Three, the pisspoor channel you don’t watch. He took that job in May 2007. Shows include – and these are the hits:
Being Human, Blood, Sweat And Takeaways, Russell Howard’s Good News, World’s Strictest Parent [watchable], Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show, The Adult Season, Britain’s Missing Top Model, Mongrels, The Undercover Princes, and Him And Her – “which recently became the Channel’s most successful ever sitcom launch.”
Praise indeed.
Not all of those shows are Cohen’s fault. You need to work with the mess and the budgets you are given. But, as ever, the impression is that with the BBC, once you are in the system of the biggest quango of them all, you are all only accountable to your peers.
