Two Dead In Chile Mine Explosion: Will President Milk This One Too?

THOSE Chilean miners and mines were in the news. Safety seemed lax. But things would improve.
So. A few weeks on from the rescue of the 33 – an orchestrated media spectacle milked by the country’s president Mr Sebastian Pinera – two mine workers have been killed in a copper and gold mine in Los Reyes, 31 miles from the site where the 33 were trapped underground for 69 days.
The miners were using old detonators that can become sensitive in heat, and go off without warning. A third miner suffered an eye injury when a piece of rock hit him.
