Frisky Horse Tried to Eat Woman’s Christmas Hat In Dorset

by | 2nd, December 2010

EILEEN Samme, of Cerne Abbas, Dorset, regrets buying a hat that looks like a Christmas pudding and modelling it in a field to “get into the spirit of Christmas”.

As she walked her jack russell Mickey, a horse saw the hat with the smart felt holly leaf on the top. Mrs Samme would like others to be made aware of the horse’s “frisky” behaviour.

No, dear readers. The horse did not try to shag the pud as it crossed Beevor Field. But it did try to eat it.

Mrs Samme spent four hours in Dorset County Hospital’s A&E department, says the local paper, although it fails to say mush of that time was spent waiting to be seen. Says she:

“He was trying to get the hat off with his mouth and all of a sudden it kicked me in my leg. I got kicked to the ground and I was on the floor scrambling for my hat.

“It was after the piece of holly on my hat – it must have thought it was a holly bush. I think it must have wanted to eat it.”

No laughing!

“It’s not funny, I was terrified.”

She describes it thus:

“It’s an accident waiting to happen.”

Old Mr Anorak will be wearing his usual brooding mare hat in the top field on Boxing Day…
