Sian O’Callaghan: Why Do People Hammer On Police Vans?

SIAN O’Callaghan: Now that Christopher Halliwell has been charged with her murder, the story rests until his trial at Bristol Crown Court. We will be invited to gawp at her funeral. Doing so will only tell us what we know: the victim’s family have acted with dignity.

But outside Swindon court, there is action. Under a headline:

YOU TOOK OUR ANGEL”, we see the crowd chasing and banging on the police van taking Halliwell away. And we hear:

A woman shouted: “He’s taken an angel from Swindon – she didn’t deserve it.”

And angel from Swindon? And does anyone deserve to be kidnapped and murdered?

Sian O’Callaghan was a young woman murdered in the prime of life. To give her death a spiritual significance is typical.

One person shouted: “There’s 150 grand on your head.”

Save your money. Give it to the victim’s family.

Meanwhile, the floral tributes left outside the Swindon night club she left on the night of her death have been removed.

And there is the second alleged victim. The Sun says she might be 20-year-old Vietnamese Hai Nguyen.
