Manchester City Stop The Stretford End Clock: Do Manchester United Fans Care?

by | 14th, May 2011

AND so it came to pass that 35 years after last winning a tropy, it only took a couple of hundred million pounds to win Manchester City another one. Peter Swales, Francis Lee, John Wardle and Thaksin Shinawatra (all City chairman in the barren years) now know where they went wrong.

The North now has its own version of Chelsea.

More vitally, the Stretford End clock is reset to zero.

The clock counted the years since City had won a trophy. It was the best banner in British football. United fans should care. But do they? City win the FA Cup and United trump them by winning the Premier League on the same day. And then there is the Champions’ League final to come.

Do City fans care? Does it taint the victory that United won the bigger competition? Are you United fans worried?
