York Council Builds Fence Through Football Pitch

CITY of York Council employed builders who placed a steel fence about the play area on Stray Road in Heworth. You can see the result of their work in the photo. The goal and field of play have been reduced in size and present of the option of the ball and players becoming impaled.

A source tells the paper:

“It’s difficult to see why it’s been done that way and I hope it’s sorted out soon, because it must be a disappointment for children using the playing field.”

Anorak suggests it remains in place as a local landmark. If you build it, they will come.
On the matter of who dunnit, we hear rumours that a local Chelsea supporter hankering for those Jose Mourinho years was on the design team…
