Should The Next Doctor Who Be A Woman?

by | 14th, September 2011

NERDS! How do you feel about the prospect of Doctor Who having boobs? Essentially, the question here is that, should there be a Doctor Whoman, would you be angry, disappointed or aroused?

You may think ‘It’ll never happen!’ thanks to some spurious tidbit of knowledge you gleaned from some grotty reference book you’ve had since you were eight, but the calls for the writers of this Whovian slop to branch out increase, year on year.

And now, John Barrowman is shouting too. In a really tuneful, stage-school way, naturally.

The actor, who played Captain Jack Harkness, said:

“I think a female doctor might work, you never know. The audience might not like that. I know there’s a lot of young girls and women who would love that.

“I think that maybe they should go out on a limb next time and try it. That always stirs things up a little bit and makes things exciting and it’s nice to see different things and challenges happen like that.

“Listen, if Captain Jack can be an omni-sexual time agent and an assistant to the doctor, why can’t we have a female doctor?”

When asked who he’d like to see as a female Who, he said:

“I have no idea. I always thought Catherine Tate would make a lovely female doctor, if they did something with her character, but I don’t know, I have no idea.”

Then, right on cue…

“Put me in a dress and I’ll be the female doctor.”

Sheesh. He can’t stop himself can he? Anyway, who would you like to be the Doctor should the writers decide on a sex-change for the Timelord? Jamie Winstone? Moira Stewart? Audrey from Coronation Street?
