Chinese student stages her own funeral so she can enjoy it

FUNERALS eh? Not exactly jolly affairs. Everyone blows snot bubbles while bereaving into their handkerchiefs and then they try and forget the misery with drink and anecdotes, before drunkenly crying some more, sat in solitude on the toilet.

And so, let us look at a student over in China who decided to stage her own funeral so that she can “enjoy it”.

Zeng Jia spent a stupid amount of money on her coffin which was flanked by row upon row of fresh flowers. She hired a photographer and make-up artist to make her look “more dead”, and there, she lay in her coffin as still as a corpse, clutching her favourite doll to her chest.

She lay lifeless for an hour, listening to mourners make speeches about her, before she got up and joined the wake. LIKE A MASSIVE WEIRDO.

Zeng said:

“It struck me that people spend all that time and effort on someone when they are gone and they cannot appreciate it. I wanted to see what people would think of me so I decided to hold my funeral while I could enjoy it.

“Experiencing death has made me appreciate life more keenly. I feel so good living after coming out of the coffin.”

Does this remind you of anything?

Fans of Chris Morris may recall a sketch which looked at exactly that, where viewers will have no doubt assumed the idea was so dark and nonsensical, it could only take a brilliant comic mind to come up with such an idea.

Seems life is imitating art again.
