Transfer Balls: The Mirror says that Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson “tops Spurs wishlist”. The Cherries’ striker is, apparently, heading to Spurs for £12m. Well, maybe.

The tabloids love to talk of transfer lists. In recent times, the tabloids have told us other player who sat atop The Tottenham list:

The Metro in 2010: “Croatian Lionel Messi’ Mateo Kovacic on Spurs’ transfer wish-list”. (He was Mateo Kovacic – he still is).

Daily Mirror: “Yevhen Konoplyanka, who is one of the hottest properties in Ukraine football” was at the top of the list.

The Daily Mail said in March 2012: “Get Remy and Hazard! Redknapp targets duo to launch Spurs summer spree”

In 2014, the Telegraph told readers that these players we all on the Spurs wishlist:

Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea, £25m

Jay Rodriguez, Southampton, £15m

Loic Remy, Queens Park Rangers, £8m

Mattia Destro, Roma, £12m

Alvaro Vadillo, Real Betis, £8m

Dejan Lovren, Southampton, £15m

Daley Blind, Ajax, £8m

Morgan Schneiderlin, Southampton, £15m

Spurs bought none of them.

In September 2014, talkSport told us that Jackson Martinez was “top of January shopping list’.

In November 2014, the Mail said: “Hector Moreno heads Mauricio Pochettino’s transfer wishlist as Tottenham manager looks to strengthen back four”

In April 2015, the Standard told us: “Andriy Yarmolenko, Domagoj Vida and Stefan Savic on Spurs’ summer wish-list”. And “Austrian centre-back Kevin Wimmer is high on Spurs’ list and is expected to sign from Cologne when the season ends.”

Also in April, talkSport stated: “Tottenham target Florian Thauvin showed exactly why he’s on their radar as he produced a stunning piece of skill on Saturday against Nantes. The 22-year-old Marseille star, who is on Mauricio Pochettino’s wishlist along with team-mates Andre Ayew and Andre-Pierre Gignac”.

Keep wishing…
