One in 35 living British men is a paedophile say scaremongers

The Daily Mail reports that “750,000 UK men want child sex”. That sounds terrible.

One in 35 men pose a risk of being a child abuser

On the plus side that could mean that the majority of paedos can control their urges.

A shocking analysis by the National Crime Agency reveals that about one in 35 adult males poses a potential risk of being a child abuser or of seeking out child sex images online.

That headline figure is looking a little blurred. We’re now told that one in 35 adult men in the UK could seek out images of under-12s being abused. The NCA had made a direct link between looking at a horrible image to carrying out an act of child abuse and being a peadophile.

Horrifically, as many as 250,000 men may be sexually attracted to pre-pubescent children – defined as those under 12 – according to the findings disclosed exclusively to The Mail on Sunday.

Protential. May. What are the facts?

Phil Gormley, the deputy director general of the National Crime Agency (NCA), said: ‘We are starting to get a real sense of the scale.’ He also warned that paedophiles are so numerous that ‘the reality is that we are all living not far away from one’.

That used to be true only for rats. Now we are all close to a paedo. It’s an epidemic:

Senior police, politicians and child protection groups want to spark debate over the best way to encourage paedophiles to seek assistance before they harm children – but Mr Gormley accepts that this is an ‘uncomfortable discussion’ for the public.

Well, for one in 35 men it will be.

The shocking figures come from estimates based on academic research and the best available evidence from other sources. They indicate that between one and three per cent of males have paedophilic tendencies, and match figures from other countries in Europe.

It’s a guess, then.

The Daily Record: “One in 35 men in Britain could be potential paedophiles, new shock statistics reveal”

Being a paeodphile is now a thought crime?

The NCA’s deputy director Phil Gormley told the Mail on Sunday that of those, as many as 250,000 men were “true paedophiles” – attracted to pre-pubescent girls under 12.

Paedophiles are now ranked in terms of authenticity.

Writing in the same paper Karen Bradley, who was appointed the first minister for preventing abuse and exploitation last year, said society was at a “watershed moment” and needed to look at the reality of what was going on.

The minister tasked with tackling abuse finds the problem is big and that her job is vital. The rest of us seem to recall that the biggest names in paedophilia – Sir Jimmy Savile, Sir Cyril Smith and all the nonces in Rotherham, Oxford and Rochdale – were able to get away with it for so long not because we are no more than a foot away from a paedo at any time, rather because there was a culture of denial in the police, BBC, NHS and government. Having failed to listen to the victims for years, and raced to find paedos like Savile and Smith guilty beyond all doubt only after their deaths, we now listen to those in power telling us what a massive problem paedophila is. The elite are as shocked at the scale of the horror. Really, they are. It says so in a report.

The Staffordshire MP, who is the mother of two sons, wrote: “Victims and survivors of abuse are, more than ever before, feeling confident to report their experiences. This is encouraging, but also an immense challenge. Because coming forward is never the end of it for a victim; because the damage of those experiences is so hard to undo; and because it is clear that far too many children are being damaged in the first place.

“But the Government can’t solve everything and, more importantly, I don’t believe that it should. We must all look unblinkingly at the reality. Raise our voices when we suspect a child is at risk and work together to find solutions. It will not be easy. But it can and must be done if we are to protect our children.”

We are in enlightened times. Whereas once no-one was a criminal for abusing children; now everyone is a criminal for thinking about abusing children. Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn;t there, say the Government and the experts. In this Brave New world, all adults are portrayed as potential abusers. That’s not justice.
