Male daytime TV star shocks world: I’m not gay
Newspapers are full of news that daytime TV presenter Phillip Schofield is gay. “I’m gay, I’m proud, and I love my incredible wife” says the Sun, reflecting how Schofield broke the news to viewers of ITV’s This Morning, the show he presents. As the show broadcast other segments – Bear Can’t Find Toilet In Woods – Is Austerity to Blame?; Kate Price: Why I Sleep On My Back; When Will Ruby Union Come Out? – we read of other celebrities rooting for Schofield. Ant and Dec sent their “huge respect and admiration”. David Walliams dreams of living in a world where people can “just be who they are”. Dermot O’Leary says Schofield has “the heart of a lion”.
What of Mrs Schofield, you wonder, good old Phil’s wife of over 20 years? In the Telegraph, Sara Wilson notes: “It may be a weight off his shoulders but it will go straight on to the shoulders of his wife.” “You doubt everything you’ve ever believed in your life,” says one woman to the BBC. She found out her husband was gay six years ago.
Said no-one: Maybe one day other TV presenters will be brave enough to come out as straight.

Democracy wins: Australia says yes to gay marriage
Australians approve of gay marriage. Australian voters gave a thumbs up to same-sex marriage, with 61.6% voting for and 31% voting against. Turn out for the postal vote was high: just shy of 79% of eligible voters (12 million people) took part in the voluntary referendum.
Voters were asked to reply Yes or No response to the question: “Should the marriage law should be changed to allow same-sex couples to marry?”
It is another triumph for democracy. The people have had their say. Now get on with it.
Indonesia whips two consenting adult men 85 times for having gay sex
To Indonesia’s Aceh province where the court has sentenced two men (ages: 20 and 23) to 85 lashes for having sex with each other. The Associated Press reports:
The couple were arrested in late March after neighborhood vigilantes in the provincial capital, Banda Aceh, suspected them of being gay and set out to catch them having sex.
Aceh is the only province in Muslim-majority Indonesia to practice Islamic law, or sharia, which was a concession made by the national government in 2006 to end a years-long war with separatists. It implemented an expanded sharia code two years ago.
How how dies the UK view Indonesia?

Tens of thousands of homosexual men pardoned for past ‘crimes’
A new rule means old judgements are no longer fit for purpose. In 2013, Alan Turing was pardoned. His conviction for gross indecency quashed. Turing, ‘creator of the modern computer’, committed suicide in 1954. His crime was to have been gay.
What this pardon does for him is debatable. What is does for the State is clear: it absolves the current crop of blame. It makes them look good and on the right side of history. Turing remains convicted.
Today the State decreed that thousands of gay and bisexual men found guilty of breaking the law for breathing have been posthumously pardoned. Around 49,000 men have been cleared.
All male homosexual activity was illegal until 1967. Tuning was guilty of having a relationship with another man. He accepted a deal: he’d have hormonal treatment, a chemical castration, to set him on the straight and narrow. Turning, a hero who had aided Britain’s war effort considerably – his work in cracking the German Enigma code was of huge benefit to the Allies – was deemed a security risk. Police watched him. A great mind was made a pariah, an enemy of the State, by dint of his sexuality.
As for the pardon, well, it’s a gesture that reduces the victims to symbols.
Turning, a man whose name should be synonymous with great intellects and the war effort is now associated with gay rights and today’s moralists. His sexuality had no business of the State’s then; it has no business of the State’s now. So too all other convicted of a heinous law.
Leave these people alone. They suffered enough.
EastBenders: rewriting the ‘legend’ of Michael Cashman and ‘yuppie poofs’
Lord Michael Cashman, the Labour MEP, is making a return to BBC soap opera EastEnders as Colin Russell, the show’s first gay character.
Colin is remembered for a scene in 1987 when he and Barry Clark (Gary Hailes) preformed the first gay kiss on a British soap opera.
The Sun is delighted Colin is back, calling the character a TV “legend”.
Back then the paper dubbed the show EastBenders and called Barry and Colin “yuppie poofters”, whose “homosexual love scenes” was performed “when millions of children were watching”.
The Gay Times recalls:
When the storyline did air, Michael’s real-life boyfriend found his world turned upside down. On the centre pages of the News of the World read the headline “secret gay love of AIDS scare east ender” – outing Michael’s partner to his friends and family. “They printed our address – all but the door number – and that afternoon a brick came through the window.”
Legends can involve real people. Who knew?

Players such as Luke Shaw, Daniel Sturridge and James Milner all appear in the low tier with odds of 10/1 or lower, whilst the likes of Joe Hart, Jordan Henderson and Wayne Rooney all appear at odds of 20/1 or lower.

Following the news over the weekend that two Premier League footballers (one of whom allegedly plays for England) are ready to come out as gay, a betting website based in the UK has become the first to offer customers the chance to bet on which footballers might do so. Visitors to the site can take a punt on which footballers they think will make the announcement; with the sportsmen split into low, medium and high tier odds according to the perceived likeliness of their involvement in a potential upcoming announcement.

Yishai Schlissel was released from prison three weeks ago after serving 10 years for stabbing marchers at a gay rights parade in 2005. Today he knifed six revellers on a Jerusalem gay rights march.

Elton John kicks Dolce & Gabbana out of the gay community centre
Whoah! Put that down that Floral Jacquard Waistcoat and Bolero Jacket with Trimming (£3,300.00)! Think on. Anyone ready to buy that or a Dolce & Gabbana T-shirt (RRP. £445) should first know that Elton John says you must not. You see, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce, for it is they, have said that they prefer “traditional” families. Dolce likes a male and female to be parents, rather than man and man, or woman and pigeon.
He also says IVF creates “synthetic children”.
“I’m not convinced by those I call the children of chemicals, synthetic children. Wombs for rent, sperm chosen from a catalogue … psychiatrists are not ready to confront the effects of this experimentation,”
Elton John – gay, married, dad of two two children through IVF and ‘womb renter’ – says Dolce’s views are “archaic” and “deeply insulting”.
Gabbana says: “We firmly believe in democracy and the fundamental principle of freedom of expression that upholds it.”
Elton John adds:
“How dare you refer to my beautiful children as ‘synthetic’… And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF – a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children.”
Isn’t John guilty of wagging his finger at them?
Elton John then coined the hashtag #BoycottDolceGabbana.
And everyone laughed at his intolerance? No. Gay rights activist Peter Tatchell said in the Guardian:
“It’s quite outrageous that two gay fashion designers who have relied on the gay community for much of their success are opposing gay equality. They’re lining up with the Pope and the far right in their support for legal discrimination.”
Didn’t they just rely on their talent and business acumen? Or do the minutes from the gay community AGM suggest members only wear D&G’s schmutters because the designers are gay, and therefore are in the meeting and not easily ignored?
Tatchell adds:
“If they don’t want to be parents that’s fine, but it’s deeply insulting to disparage the many same sex parents who have brought up children happily and successfully.”
Is anyone else astounded that sucessful parents would be so thin skinned as to give a toss what D&G think, let alone have the energy to demand they be shunned, ruined and banned from the gay community centre for speaking freely?
Now. About that 450-quid T-shirt – can you wash baby sick out of it?

Grindr weakness lets homophobes keep tabs on you
Want to keep track of gays? That quesion to you ISIS and other violent homophobes.
Anyone on Grindr, (the dating app with millions of monthly users) has a weakness.
Arstechnica reports:
Synack independently confirmed the privacy threat, Grindr officials have allowed it to remain for users in all but a handful of countries where being gay is illegal. As a result, geographic locations of Grindr users in the US and most other places can be tracked down to the very park bench where they happen to be having lunch or bar where they’re drinking and monitored almost continuously, according to research scheduled to be presented Saturday at the Shmoocon security conference in Washington, DC.
…Grindr developers modified the app to disable location tracking in Russia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Liberia, Sudan, Zimbabwe, and any other place with anti-gay laws. Grindr also locked down the app so that location information is available only to people who have set up an account. The changes did nothing to prevent the Synack researchers from setting up a free account and tracking the detailed movements of several fellow users who volunteered to participate in the experiment.
The proof-of-concept attack works by abusing a location-sharing function that Grindr officials say is a core offering of the app. The feature allows a user to know when other users are close by. The programming interface that makes the information available can be hacked by sending Grinder rapid queries that falsely supply different locations of the requesting user. By using three separate fictitious locations, an attacker can map the other users’ precise location using the mathematical process known as trilateration.
Synack researcher Colby Moore said his firm alerted Grindr developers of the threat last March. Aside from turning off location sharing in countries that host anti-gay laws and making location data available only to authenticated Grindr users, the weakness remains a threat to any user that leaves location sharing on. Grindr introduced those limited changes following a report that Egyptian police used Grindr to track down and prosecute gay people.

Shrien Dewani is innocent: but worse than that he’s ‘gay’
When lawyers for Shrien Dewani slapepd his bisexuality on the table in a South African court they quashed the entertainment and the case against their client. Not gay, Shrien could still fancy his murdered wife Anni Dewani. We would not have his sexuality exposed by cros-examination and with get to know the ‘secret’ that allegedly drove him to fund a murder.

As for coming out as gay when you’re Asian: I cannot even fathom the stress that might be involved. Indian society, even in Britain, is still struggling to get used to the notion of people marrying spouses of their own choosing, let alone same-sex partners. Indeed, not only is homophobia a fact of life in many Asian communities, but I have heard it claimed that homosexuality doesn’t even exist in Indian culture.
It doesn’t surprise me that Shrien Dewani kept his bisexuality hidden from his family — until he was facing a murder charge. By outing himself on the first day of his trial in South Africa, he pre-empted the prosecution’s case that he murdered because he felt trapped in his marriage…
Of the ten or so gay British Asians I know, all of them successful professionals, only one is fully “out”. Most have only come out to select trusted relatives or remain firmly in the closet. One of my oldest friends recently came out to his relatively liberal mother at the age of 39. She responded: “So what? It does not mean you cannot marry someone anyway, hunna?” He’ll be at a gay club on a Saturday night and on Sunday afternoon will be sitting in the living room at his parents’ home being introduced to yet another prospective bride over tea.

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook Should Be Banned From Russia For Being Gay
So, at least, says a particularly repellent Russian commentator. That Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, should be banned from Russia after his recent public coming out as being gay. The reasoning being that he might bring Aids, or even Ebola, to Russia:
Hours after Apple CEO Tim Cook publicly addressed his sexuality for the first time, a St Petersburg politician has called for him to be banned from Russia.
According to a translation by Buzzfeed, anti-LGBT campaigner Vitaly Milonov, a member of the Legislative Assembly of St Petersburg, drew on stereotypes of homosexuals to suggest Tim Cook could bring “Aids and gonorrhea” to Russia.
He told the FlashNord website: “what could he [Cook] bring us? The Ebola virus, Aids, gonorrhea? They all have unseemly ties over there. Ban him for life.”
Quite what the connection between being gay in San Francisco and Ebola is is uncertain. And the connection with Aids is truly absurd. For Russia has an HIV problem of immense scope. A toxic combination of no clean needles and rampant drug injecting has meant that an horrific percentage of young Russians is already infected. These days you’re actually more likely to get infected screwing around in Russia than you are in a gay bathhouse in SF. Which makes this contention, that Cook should be banned from Russia for being gay, ludicrous.

Public School Never Made Me Gay: Benedict Cumberbatch And Those Curious Boys
Dermot Turing, nephew of Alan Turing inspects the Pilot ACE computer – formerly the fastest computer in the world in the 1950s and fundamentally designed by Alan Turing, at a preview of the Codebreaker: Alan Turing’s Life and Legacy exhibition at the Science Museum.
BENEDICT Cumberbatch is plugging his film The Imitation Game. He plays Alan Turing, the mathematician and computer scientist whose key work decrypting German codes in the second world war helped the British defeat the Nazis.
Turing died in 1954. He had been convicted of gross indecency for being gay. At the time homosexuality was illegal in the UK. He endured a chemical castration as an alternative to prison. His death was suicide, so they say.

One In 10 Church of England Bishops Could Be Secretly Straight
THE Telegraph brings news that one in 10 bishops “could be secrely” gay. Or to put it another way, one in 10 bishops could not be secretly gay.
In the Telegraph, John Bingham reports that in his new book (More Perfect Union – Understanding Same-Sex Christian Marriage), Bishop Alan Wilson of Buckingham claims that almost 10% of Church of England bishops “might be gay”. The Bishop observes:
Particular attention sometimes falls on one vulnerable group with especially complex needs – gay Church of England bishops… By 2014 there were said to be a dozen or so gay bishops. By definition, these men are outstanding priests who have managed to navigate the complexities of a structurally homophobic institution well enough to become its iconic representatives. They may well have a bigger investment than others in keeping the closet door tightly shut…
Many who have publicly resisted same-sex marriage also have a dog in the fight arising from personal experience. This can arise from ambivalence or guilt about ways they have handled family members who have come out as gay, as well as their own sexualities… They have more on the line than some others. They also have greater status and security, but some of them may end up among the last people able to understand the need for change and bring it about. This can be expected to be the case especially for gay evangelical bishops, with their historically less well developed networks and support systems.

Russian Footballers To Wear Skirts, Necklaces And Wimples To Defeat Homosexuality
A RUSSIAN priest has claimed that he is “glad” Russia’s players failed to make any progress at the World Cup as the coloured boots they wore were an affront to God – a “homosexual abomination” if you will.
Writing in his column for Christian website Russian People’s Line, priest Alexander Shumsky claimed that by wearing green, yellow, pink and blue boots, the Russia players were promoting the “gay rainbow” in Brazil, hence their failure.

Luton Muslims Fight State Intrusion Into Their Children’s Sex Lives
LUTON Olive Tree school is haven of intolerance, if the wonks are to be believed. The school says we “pride ourselves on successfully combining the attainment of high educational standards with the spiritual, religious and cultural needs of pupils who come from a variety of different social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.”
Adding:
The aim is to provide an education that stresses virtues such as discipline, dedication, family values, community spirit, respect and tolerance towards others. We endeavor to achieve this goal in accordance with the Islamic faith and prepare pupils towards entry into secondary school education.
Yep. It’s a faith school. But can Islam coexist with another belief system? Ofsted’s inspectors paid a visit to the school. The kid checkers got children on their own and asked for their views on homosexuality.

DR Christian Jessen is the star of the Channel 4 documentary Undercover Doctor: Cure Me, I’m Gay.
Can you be “cured” of your homosexuality? Some want to change. They sign up to schemes to become healthy and straight and good.
He tells viewers:
“Reparative’ techniques used across the world, primarily by some extreme right-wing organisations, have included electric shock therapy, exorcism, hypnosis, and even sessions with prostitutes.”
Because this is Channel 4, the main premise of the show will be to portray the curing community as freaks and nutjobs. But you needn’t tune in to know that, although the penile plethysmograph to measure Jessen’s post-cure arousal is an interesting reworking of TV clap-ometer.

Maxim Martsinkevich Might Be Putin’s Chief Anti-Gay Enforcer
MAXIM Martsinkevich is the head of Occupy Pedophilia, an anti-gay group. He used to be a leading light in the neo-Nazi groups Format18. He’s just been deported from Cuba, accused of kidnapping and torturing Russian LGBT teens. It’s alleged that he lured his victims through fake social media profiles. Attacks were filmed and uploaded onto the web.
This site reports that in 2012, Martsinkevich, 29, told Lenta.ru news website that he charged people a fee to take part in these child abuser-hunting “safaris.”

Other than finding an excuse to beat people up, the apparent idea behind this movement was to trap peadophiles. But most of the alleged victims seem to be gay teenagers.

Maybe Martsinkevich is of one mind with Vladimir Putin, for whom being gay and being a child abuser are two sides of the same coin. After all, it was Putin who opined:
“We do not have a ban on non-traditional sexual relationships. We have a ban on the propaganda of homosexuality and paedophilia. I want to underline this. Propaganda among children. These are absolutely different things – a ban on something or a ban on the propaganda of that thing… We are not forbidding anything and nobody is being grabbed off the street, and there is no punishment for such kinds of relations. You can feel relaxed and calm [in Russia], but leave children alone please.”
