Sun Uses Nazi Singer Saga To Link Anders Breivik To The BNP

by | 4th, August 2011

HEARD the story that links the BNP to Anders Breivik, the Norwegian mass murderer and EDL fan? THE Sun’s front-page headline declares:

BNP chief’s Nazi salute to Breivik’s heroine

The BNP chief is Chris Hurst. He can be seen giving the Nazi salute at a Far Right get together in Veroce, 25 miles north of Budapest, Hungary. We learn that he stood against Business Secretary Vince Cable in Twickenham at last year’s general election. He gathered 654 votes. (The Sun shows readers a photo of badges for sale that glory in the Holocaust – which is odd because many neo-Nazis, as well as those on the extreme Left, like to discount that genocide in public and praise it in private.)

Breivik is Anders Breivik, the man who murdered 77 people in Norway.

His heroine is a singer called Saga, a Swedish Nazi.

Anders Brehing Breivik published a 1,518 page manifesto called “2083 – A European Declaration of Independence“. He sued the nom de plume Andrew Berwick. This manifesto features the passage “Motivational music tracks, artist: Saga“.

Breivik calls her “a courageous, Swedish, female nationalist oriented musician“. He says that “Marxist and multiculturalist character assassins will claim that Saga is an evil, national socialist monsterband… this characteristic couldn’t be anywhere further from the truth“.

Breivik says he has “listened to many of the tracks several hundred times“. He says they are “highly recommend” to “revolutionary conservatives“. You should “just listen to the tracks but learn the texts as well“. He fails to give it a score out of ten, but as a review it is pretty glowing. But calling her Breivik’s heroine is pushing it.

You may recall that on Breivik’s Facebook page he stated his liking for:

“Vocal elektronika (vocal trance) but also classical music and pop. Armin van Buuren, John O’Callaghan, Marcus Shossow with vocals like Audrey Gallagher, Emma Hewitt, Sarah Howells, Sheryl Dean, Helene Bøksle, Saga etc. I also appreciate classical music. Opera: Wagner, Verdi, Mozart.”

Maybe he was inspired by Saga? Maybe not. As she also said:

I just bought Modern Warfare 2, the game. It is probably the best military simulator out there and it’s one of the hottest games this year…I see MW2 more as a part of my training-simulation than anything else. I’ve still learned to love it though and especially the multiplayer part is amazing. You can more or less completely simulate actual operations.”

What makes a man murder 77 people is likely to be something more than a Nazi toe-tapper and a video game. It might be that he just likes killing people and hankers for some utopian past where his kind got all the cash and all the girls.

Saga would like to make an announcement:

Hi everyone,

It has come to my attention that my music has been cited, along with a number of other people and groups, as going some way to inspiring one of the most vile and criminal acts in recent history. I cannot begin to describe how saddened I am to hear that and wanted to inform you all of my shock and utter horror at such an atrocity. My music is conceived to be a positive step towards celebrating our identity and bringing about positive cultural and political change. Like a great many of artists and musicians, my music is designed to give hope to those who otherwise would have little. Change is brought about through political and cultural means by like-minds working together for a greater cause not brought about by warped loners acting out their murderous intentions. I have never sought to encourage or promote violence and I never shall. My thoughts are with the Norwegian people at this time and my heart goes out to all those affected by this hideous and utterly pointless atrocity

Get a load of Saga giving that peaceful Nazi salute and her giving full throat to such lyrics as:

The greatest race to ever walk the earth,
Dying a slow death with insane mirth,
The tomb has been prepared, our race betrayed,
White man, fight the flight towards the grave…

With Nelson Mandela aged, Ghandi dead and the Dalai Lama’s office a bastion of male chauvanism the world looks for a new peacenik.

Says the Sun:

Saga performed brazenly even though Breivik’s 77 victims in a bomb and shooting atrocity are still being buried. And Hurst’s attendance at the rally, along with his racist rants and shameful behaviour, give the lie to the BNP’s attempts to present itself as a mainstream, respectable political party.

Does anyone still believe the BNP is an inclusive party not based on racism and hate? Didn’t the pretence vanish after the last General Election?

We are then treated to this line:

Hurst grinned: “I saw Saga play in London two years ago. I was proper p***ed up. I got on the stage and took the microphone from her and started singing. So I want to see if she remembers me.”

And so it is that the Sun’s shocking revelation that the BNP are Nazis becomes a tale of the unelectable in pursuit of the blonde celebrity…
