Wojciech Szczesny says Arsenal players use ‘John Terry’ as code for ‘terrible’ women

MORE news on Orange Prize for Fiction winner, Chelsea’s John Terry. Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny says that on night out his teammates use codewords for ladies that catch the eye. We don’t know that the code for fit babes is – one suggests Maldinis, Ginolas or Windasses – but the affable Pole says the less alluring are named after the Chelsea captain:

“At Arsenal [Terry’s name] is another word for an ugly woman. If there’s a girl around that we don’t really like, we use it as a smokescreen, as in: ‘Have you seen John Terry recently? He’s terrible’. I recommend this, it really works.”

Chelsea captain John Terry’s T-shirt of the day: Stiliyan Petrov and photos

PREMIER League photos of the day are introduced by Chelsea captain John Terry’s T-shirt of the day for Aston Villa’s Stiliyan Petrov. Not an illness, good cause, popular campaign nor expression of love for his fellow man escapes John Terry. He cares. And he wants to show everyone how much he cares. John Terry’s T-shirt collection is extensive. But – oddly – no- footballers wear “John Terry is innocent” T-shirts or show any kind of support for him and his fights and trials.

May Stiliyan Petrov and Fabrice Muamba can pray for the selfless Chelsea captain.

Chelsea’s John Terry cannot gag lip-readers

THE Sun applies more pressure to Chelsea captain John Terry with a front-page headline:

“JT BID TO BAN LIP READER”

Terry is accused of racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand. Terry denies the claim. The matter will be heard in court.

The Sun is gunning for Terry, who once, allegedly, tried to obtain a super-injunction banning it and all media from reporting on his private life. Is today’s story tinged with revenge?

The Sun reports:

A BATTLE by John Terry to outlaw lip-reading evidence ahead of his looming trial for alleged racist abuse has flopped, The Sun can reveal. The soccer ace’s high-priced legal team argued at a hastily-arranged court hearing it would be unfair because the case against him revolves around a single word — “black”.

John Terry: Is it always racism?

JOHN Terry Chelsea captain, is no longer John Terry England captain. The allegation that Terry racially abused QPR’s Anton Ferdinand caused the FA to strip him of the captain’s armband. The illiberal anti-racist campaign – the ridiculous drive to turn the working classes into overt anti-racists patrolled by – get this – the police – has caused the craven FA to damn Terry.

The man Terry replaced as England captain just happens to be Anton Ferdinand’s older brother, Rio Ferdinand, of Manchester United.

Says Rio Ferdinand:

“I’ve felt like I’ve almost been fooled a little bit over the years. You look back to the days when John Barnes and all the guys who came before were playing, and all the stuff they had to deal with — bananas on the pitch. And I’ve always been somebody who’s championed our country for making great strides. I thought that era was gone. It seems it was just put to one side for a while and now it seems to be coming out a little bit more prominent. I hope it’s just a group of small-minded people who are making it newsworthy and it’ll be stamped out, but there are obviously still great strides to be made.”

Sun reader sends Anton Ferdinand bullet to shoot Chelsea’s John Terry with?

ANTON Ferdinand, the QPR player allegedly called a “f**king black c**t, f**king knobhead” in a racially abusive manner by Chelsea captain John Terry, has received a bullet in the post.

QPR are playing Chelsea in the FA Cup tomorrow. Much chatter has been about whether Ferdinand should shake Terry’s hand. The gift of a bullet seems to invite Anton to try his luck at something more daring and less legal. It is not known if Anton Ferdinand has a gun, but Chelsea’s Ashley Cole does. For once a football match could live up to its billing as a war.

The Sun reports:

Cops are investigating after the QPR defender received the chilling parcel the day before facing his club’s London rivals.

Chelsea captain and Sun monster John Terry turns mansion into QPR shrine

CHELSEA and England captain John Terry has a “£4.6m MYSTERY MORTGAGE“.

Sun readers pricks up their ears. A football story on the front page is always of interest. But where’s the sex? The money angle is dull. John Terry’s mortgage is right up with John Terry’s pension plans, John Terry’s life assurance policy and John Terry’s huge endowment in the sensation stakes. Reading on we learn:

Massive loan for England skipper’s £2.2m mansion

Well, John Terry does earn massive wages at Chelsea. The Sun says he gets £170,000 every week. That should cover any loan for his Oxshott, Surrey, pile. Also, he bought the property for that figure back in 2003. It might be worth more now, as might Terry.

JOHN Terry has mysteriously remortgaged his mansion for a fourth time — taking his home loan to a massive £4.65MILLION.

Did Wayne Bridge shop John Terry to the police? Race row gets Taiwanese animation treatment

THE Taiwan-based media group NMA has produced a Luis Suarez / Patrice Evra / John Terry / Anton Ferdinand animated racism video. The Taiwanese have a theory over who shopped John Terry to the police. Anyone at the News of the World ever seen Wayne Bridge’s phone records?

Chelsea captain John Terry charged with a ‘racially aggravated public order offence’

CHELSEA and England captain John Terry has been charged with a “racially aggravated public order offence”. It is alleged — and if you don’t know about this, we take the opportunity to welcome back from Mars – John Terry called QPR’s Anton Ferdinand a “fu**ing black c**t”. Terry denies any racial intent in the words.

John Terry will appear before West London Magistrates’ Court in early February.

Says Terry:

“I am disappointed with the decision to charge me and hope to be given the chance to clear my name as quickly as possible. I have never aimed a racist remark at anyone and count people from all races and creeds among my closest friends.”

Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool: When Luis Suarez Met John Terry

THE endless media guff about Andre Villas-Boas being just like Jose Mourinho (well, they’re both Portugeezers; in tabloid-land that means they’re practically identical twins) is ended. Chelsea have suffered their third defeat in four league games with a 2-1 home loss to Liverpool.

John Terry Race Row: The Sun Turns Chelsea Captain Into Mad Dog Gaddafi

JOHN Terry Race Row: The Sun turns the Chelsea captain into Colonel Gaddafi.

Sun (back page): “JT: WORLD BACKS ME – I’ve had support across the planet!”

The Sun does it’s best to make the Chelsea captain appear delusional – football’s answer to Colonel Gaddafi just before his capture.

At yesterday’s England press conference, Terry performed well. It was the first time he had spoken to the press since since the racism allegations aired. An FA wonk acting as Minster for Information prevented journalists from asking questions about the matter. Well, almost, because one did contrive to ask:

“John I’ve known you for years – you’re not a racist are you?”

The question was batted away. And then Terry, sitting uprights and looking directly out, said he loved playing for England. He used to dream about it – “as I am sure everybody in this room did“.

With that Terry had built a bridge between the hacks and the platform. And no-one shouted out:

“But that’s why your behaviour matters, JT. You’re living our dream. You have to behave well, look honest, honourable, trustworthy and decent. Your holding a sharp pin to our thought bubble.”

John Terry Race Row: Is Frank Lampard Is Too Decent And Honest To Be England Captain

TO the England team conference at The Grove hotel before the England v Sweden match. All hacks are banned from asking the Chelsea captain about the ongoing investigation into allegations of racism. Terry denies the accusations which are being investigated by the FA and police.

But two journalists contrive to weave the matter into their questions. They will take one for the press pack. They drew the short straws and will ask the questions every journalist in the room wants answered.

The pick of the bunch is, “John I’ve known you for years – you’re not a racist are you?”

The FA’s press officer stops Terry from responding to Nick and Dan’s posers. He wants to talk only about football.

John Terry: Sun Says QPR’s Anton Ferdinand Wants To Shoot Chelsea Captain John Terry

JOHN Terry Race Row: Anton Ferdinand shoots a gun; Ashley Cole speaks; and Rio Ferdinand tweets against the FA:

The Sun spots Anton Ferdinand, the QPR defender at a paintballing do. Below a photo of the player dressed in a mask and wielding a paintball gun, the Sun declares:

“Ferdinand may have enjoyed taking a few pot-shots a his Rangers mates. But no prizes for guessing who he really wanted in his sights…”

Is it Nelson Mandela? Noel Edmonds? The Queen?

The Sun knows. It can read Ferdinand’s mind. How’s that for talent?  As far as we know, Ferdinand has offered no new evidence on the matter that is being investigated by the police. He says he never heard Terry says the words “f**ing black c***” until he saw the footage on YouTube. Still, if the police can get the Sun’s writers into the interview suite they can read Terry’s mind and find out if he really is innocent, as he claims.

Chelsea Captain John Terry’s Race Row: Ian Wright Gives A Masterclass In Stupidity

JOHN Terry Race Row: Today former Arsenal player Ian Wright wants to share his thoughts on The Chelsea and England captain.

It’s the Sun’s lead football story:

“JT shouldn’t be anywhere near England squad”

I understand the fact you’re innocent until proven guilty but that doesn’t mean the captain of our country’s football team should be involved in two friendlies while being investigated over allegations of making racist remarks.

Does Wright understand the concept of innocent until proven guilty? The police are investigating. The FA was investigating but when the police stepped in it had to stop.

The FA have made a total mess of this.

John Terry Race Row: Death Threats, Anton Ferdinand For England And Hiding In Sweden

JOHN TERRY Race Row: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at the Chelsea and England captain in the news – death threats; Spain, Sweden, office politics and Ince:

The Sun (front page): “Cops hunt sicko – Soccer Race Row Death Threat”

The Sun describes QPR’s Anton Ferdinand as a “soccer ace”. Can it be that as the race row thickens, Ferdinand gets better at football and the tabloids are calling for his inclusion in the England team at Terry’s expense? The paper’s Shaun Curtis writes:

RACE-row footballer Anton Ferdinand has become the target of a terrifying death threat, The Sun can reveal.

Not an idle death threat. A terrifying one.

Cops were called in after a letter was sent to his Queens Park Rangers club following claims Anton, 26, was racially abused by Chelsea skipper John Terry in a game at Loftus Road two weeks ago. Police investigating the death threat have told Anton to fit a panic alarm at his home.

John Terry Race Row: A Tabloid Hoax And Applying The Principles

JOHN Terry Race Row: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at the Chelsea and England captain in the news.

Is John Terry a racist because he used the world “fu**ing black c***” towards QPR’s Anton Ferdinand? Terry says no. The police are investigating. The only evidence we’ve seen of any wrongdoing is an out-of-context YouTube clip. But, still, sections of the media are gunning for Terry, who once, allegedly, tried to silence them them with a super-injunction. Is the media out for revenge? Will a tabloid soon ask: “So. Why hasn’t Terry Cheated On His White Wife With A Black Woman?”

The Sun: “JT probe over teen race rant”

Cops investigated John Terry over a recording in which a man is heard calling a teenager a “black c***”, The Sun can reveal. The England and Chelsea skipper was alleged to have been the man on the tape — and the words are the same as those he is accused of screaming at QPR’s Anton Ferdinand last month.

John Terry: Blaming The White Working Class For Chelsea Captain’s Trials

JOHN Terry Race Row: Anorak’s at-glance look at the Chelsea captain in the news:

John Terry is in Fabio Capello’s provisional England squad for the internationals against Spain and Sweden this month.

Mark Norfolk writes in the London Evening Standard:

Racism is deep in football’s working-class roots

Blame the entire working class for racism? That sounds fair:

Whatever the outcome of the escalating furore over the alleged racist incident between John Terry and Anton Ferdinand, there are those who, at least in the far reaches of their minds, might be asking whether it is indeed racist to call someone a “black c***”.

John Terry’s Racism: Matthew Syed Insults Chelsea’s André Villas-Boas

DAY 10 of the media’s persecution of Chelsea captain John Terry over alleged spot to racial abuse aimed at QPR’S Anton Ferdinand.

Before we see Matthew Syed’s words in the Times, Ferdinand would like to speak. He says:

“I have very strong feelings on the matter, but in the interests of fairness and not wishing to prejudice what I am sure will be a very thorough inquiry by the FA, this will be my last comment on the subject until the inquiry is concluded.”

And that’s it.

As for facts, all we know is:

* Terry shouted: “Oi, Anton, did you think I called you a black c***?

* Terry says this was an attempt to explain to the QPR defender that he had not racially abused him.

* Ferdinand has told the FA that he did not hear Terry’s alleged abuse at the time.

You can make what you will of the anomaly.

Chelsea’s John Terry Is Innocent: Daily Mail And Stan Collymore See what They Want To See On YouTube

DON’T we all hope that Chelsea captain John Terry is innocent of racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand? Racism is a issue bigger than football’s tribalism. Other than a YouTube video we’ve seen no further evidence to support the case for Terry’s guilt.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has defended his captain. Better, perhaps, had the excitable Portuguese manager left the FA to conduct their inquires, as QPR’s Neil Warnock has, and backed his man in private. Villas-Boas opined:

“All of the players have been quiet about it because we know what happened. Nothing happened, so there is nothing to discuss.”

The Hollow John Terry Racism Debate: After Cantona and Kitson, The Chelsea Captain Matters

IAN Holloway, the likeable Blackpool manager, wants to share this thoughts on the accusation that Chelsea captain John Terry racially abused QPR’s Anton Ferdinand. He writes in the Independent:

I can’t sit here and claim I’ve never made a comment that I shouldn’t have on a football pitch. In the heat of a game, especially when things are going against you and you’re frustrated, you tend to say things that you shouldn’t.

For sure. Anyone who has played competitive sport at any levels would not like their muttering aired in the full glare of a media feeding frenzy.

I remember one training session at Bristol Rovers where I slaughtered a Welsh and a Scottish lad because they were winding me up. I was shouting all sorts of horrible things to try and provoke a response and I was bang out of the order.

Is it racism when an Englishman abuses someone from Scotland or Wales? Arsene Wenger says racism is being called a a paedo.

Former Reading striker Dave Kitson said racism was ginger:

“We talk about kicking racism out of sport but this is just as bad in its way.”

The Daily Star reacted to that with the headline “Kitson’s a right ginger whinger”.

The players’ association chief Gordon Taylor said, rightly:

“It belittles racism to compare the two issues.”

Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand Blasts John Terry? Daily Mail Guns For Chelsea Captain

THE Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday continue their pursuit of Chelsea’s John Terry, part of a vengeful media looking to get their own back on aman who, allegedly, tried to silence them with a super-injunction. The lead back page story screams:

RIO: I BELIEVE IT WAS RACIST

Well, John Terry has admitted to using the words “fu**ing black c**t” in the vicinity of QPR’s Anton Ferdinand, Rio’s younger brother. The Chelsea and England captain claims there was no racial intent. Terry maintains his innocence.

John Terry Racism Row: Chelsea’s Andre Villas-Boas And Arsenal’s Wenger Are Badly Wrong

JOHN Terry Racism Saga: Did Chelsea captain John Terry racially abuse QPR’s Anton Ferdinand? We do not know. Terry says his words have been taken out of context and misunderstood. But the allegation is enough to sully Terry’s name:

The Mail leads with news that Sky has handed “unseen footage” to the FA.

The word “unseen” suggests that there is something worth seeing. But we don’t know if there is. All we know is that Sky has delivered footage from its 20 cameras to the FA to view.

Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manger, sheds few a words on the matter:

“It came to me, how much credit can you give to something that is said on the pitch in a passionate situation? How deep do you read into it? If you have played football, you have said something to your friends; sometimes that they are an idiot – but you do not really think he’s an idiot. And that’s what I mean, in a passionate situation inside the game doesn’t mean that you can say anything. But you are not always politically correct on the pitch.”

Wenger is wrong. This is not about political correctness. This about racial abuse. The words “black c**t” are not taken lightly, but backed by 400 years of racial abuse against blacks. If political correctness means it unacceptable to racilly abuse a man in public, then we’re all for it.

“The debate is: Do you want every player to be followed by a camera? And analyse completely what he said after the game? That’s what we should do?”

Why Is The Daily Mail In A Rush To Find Chelsea’s John Terry Guilty Of (Alleged) Racism?

JOHN Terry (Chelsea and England) V The Media and, apparently, QPR’s Anton Ferdinand. How a newspaper story works:

Daily Mail – October 27, 2011:

John Terry will be confronted by evidence from three QPR players who have backed Anton Ferdinand in the FA’s race row inquiry. Sportsmail understands that Clint Hill, Paddy Kenny and Shaun Derry have  provided statements that point to a  serious flaw in Terry’s version of events at Loftus Road on Sunday.

Ferdinand was baffled by the statement the England and Chelsea captain issued on Sunday night, particularly his claim that YouTube footage showed him responding to an accusation from Ferdinand that Terry had just called him ‘a black ****’.

Kenny, Derry and Hill — an active  players’ union representative — question whether any such exchange took place, given that Ferdinand had no knowledge of a racial element to what was said until after the game.

Daily Mail Says Racism Is No Big Deal: Black Footballers Should Complain About More Important Things

THE Daily Mail’s Steve Doughty will now offer his views on John Terry, Anton Ferdinand and all that alleged racism:

“Things may not be perfect but, at the end of the day, Gary, there are worse things to complain about. So, Mr Evra and Mr Ferdinand, I know you feel insulted. But perhaps in this case you could just put up with it and get on with the game.”

Now, had Terry said “Oi! Did you say Gaddafi deserved to die, you knobhead” or “Oi! Did you say I was a f*****g c*** like Steve Doughty” then those black footballers would have real grounds to complain…
