Madeleine McCann: Gerry On The Telly And It Could Be U
“MADELEINE: It’s not too late says mum.”
The front page of the Express contains a “Dramatic Plea”.
But it’s not dramatic so much as it is desperate. “It’s not too late, please give her back,” says Kate McCann.
As ever the Express tells readers that Mrs McCann is a GP. Gerry McCann, we learn is a “consultant cardiologist”.
Says she: “Every day is hard. Every day is very difficult… The important thing is getting Madeleine back and we hope that what we are doing increases the chance of that.”
What’s The Story?
Indeed, that is the important thing. It is the only thing. But the press want more.
Says Gerry McCann: “We have a mix of very positive days, when we have done big things and achieved things or big events with the campaign, but we are aware these things are secondary.”
He’s right. Of course he is. But the press have been pointing fingers at the police, gawping at “creepy” men, listening to anyone with a paedophile story, looking for bodies and signs. They have not been on the trail of Madeleine. They follow the McCanns around, first Spain, then Germany, then the UK, the Vatican and Morocco. They are watching the parents. The parents are the story. And we are invited to look on like voyeurs.
We can wear braclets. Find Madeleine is this year’s Make Poverty History campaign.
Infotainment
The Sun says Gerry McCann is to appear at the Edinburgh TV Festival. No, not because he’s given us hours of great telly. Although he is taking the slot once occupied by Simon Cowell and Michael Barrymore. Gerry will be “quizzed” by Newsnight presenter Kirsty Walk on the media campaign to find Madeleine McCann.
Peter Barron, organiser of the event, rated the Find Madeleine campaign a “new and moving phenomenon”. What was that about good telly?
But it’s scaring the children. The Star says an appeal to find Madeleine is being screened before cinema showings of U-rated Shrek The Third.
Children with faces full of popcorn and crisps hear that Madeleine was “snatched” from her bed. “Madeleine’s parents are devastated, but they haven’t given up hope.”
A mum says it’s “unfair” to show this to children. “It makes them fear that they too could be abducted.”
It spreads the fear. It creates anxiety. And it shows no sign whatsoever of finding Madeleine nor the person or persons who might have taken her…

Shame on you people!
What upsets your more? That Madeleine is missing, Parents income, Proffession, Friends, Contacts, benefits, support, pleas, gain in advertsing..
WHAT IS IT with you people that have made you heart less bastards. I would be ashamed if I knew any of you here.
It seems you are all jealous of one thing or another that the McCann’s have or have not. You judge on public image, shall they save their tears for your obscene benefit or cry together with family? YOUR ALL NUTS.
You are so good at telling how it should be and yet know nothing what it feel to be in their shoes, so shut up… As the saying goes if have nothing positive to say, say nothing at all.
I’m disgusted in what I have just read, get a life of your own if that tomented you need to post this rubbish.
What is more disturbing is the insane are bantering their own kind (posters of same thought).

Is Clarence Mitchel the same man who was working for Gordon Brown?
Did he deliberated leave Brown to go working for the Mccanns or was he planning to leave the PM anyway?
Risky, such a new job! The Mccanns can land in jail any moment.
Besides it seems that they plan to sell their house in order to pay their lawyers.
Who can explain me this Mitchel? I don’t live in the UK.

Dont you also think it odd that the ONE and probably ONLY person who by his own admission was with them constantly - visiting Fatima - 14 hours a day with them etc. etc. in, I might add, a Government capacity, is now EMPLOYED by them!!! That alone stinks in my opinion. Who is gonna grass on someone who is paying you a huge salary not to? Especially if you have burned your career bridges. When asked on the TV today how he got the job he said the McCanns approached him - There has to be some legal questions surely as this key witness to the movements of the McCanns at the crucial times - ie visiting Fatima and other trips out in the “car”, is now “in their pockets” as it were

I’m always suspicious when celebrities get involved. you know its for publicity. Cant you see Posh telling David its good for his image? And might sell a few more of her jeans. But as soon as the tide changed against the parents a bit ,well the celebs dont say much now do they?
But I cant see them planning this as meticously as ‘Ben’ says above. But again, it is a wild theory but no wilder then those of the ‘Pro Mccan ‘ lot. No she died in an accident or overdose and its a cover up by her parents. That they are intelligent enough to plan. As for where her body is. well there’s a lot of wild country out there and the sea is just yards away. To me when a search is done its like a ripple. It starts where the disappearance took place and widens out in increasing circles. If a lead comes up it is investigated and back to and widen the circle. it didnt happen here because of the immediate ‘find maddy’ campaign. And why was it so immediate. There was no chance that she would be ‘forgotten’ that quickly. It led to searches all over the place. But well away from the town. The police resources were diluted, they couldn’t be in 2 places at once could they? They dont have that much manpower and money. And there’s still other crime to investigate and holiday makers and towns people to protect. The police had to abandon their logical search to go tearing off around the world on wild goose chases.
i heard they might have to sell their house to pay their legal bills and I thought poor poppets, shouldn’t be penalised for neglecting their children. But with the fund. No need. gullible people many with little money will contribute and so reword this couple. And I’m sure there will be a lot of money left over after the legal bills are paid. enough for in vitro. in another year or so so they’ll have them another kid to replace this one they ‘lost’

I think Madeleine could well turn up somewhere. The McCanns seem so confident that she is still alive and of being proved ‘innocent’, it could be that they are behind the ‘abduction’, knowing that a great deal of money can be made via the media follow-up these days. It would be easy to have someone (safely) hide her away, in another country, for a few months, then leave her somewhere safe where she would be sure to be found. She could have been long gone by the time she was supposed to have disappeared - to avoid any possiblility of police or others stopping the abduction. Also, I may be wrong but I have felt from the outset that the McCanns simply don’t appear to be as upset as you would be under those circumstances - whether she was abducted, died accidentally or whatever. Why were there no ‘casual’ encounters with reporters in the street? - everything was stage managed from the start, church visits etc. Any ‘evidence’ found so far could have been planted to fool the police into thinking she was dead - they are doctors after all. Also, why wasn’t the fund, supposedly there to help find her, not immediately used to hire private detectives etc.? If there is anyone who hasn’t yet heard of this case, they are unlikely to react to even more publicity and appeals. Richard Branson is just jumping on the bandwagon - if they’re innocent he looks good, if guilty he has been fooled but still looks like a nice guy - if a bit gullible!

I am horrified with the new Mccann fund. 100 thouwsend pounds to defend them. I always had deep admiration for the people of the UK, they are the ones who gave us hope and support during the war also fighting and dying for justice in our continent.Sir Branson is showing having a bad character and this is not good for the image of the British people. Poor Madeleine. The Mccanns thought only about themselves from day one.If they look unhappy on pictures it is because they are afraid of jail. Disgusting, disgusting.
But the PJ and Scotland yard will prove the truth, I pray God.

First of all I am appauled by the Branson jesture - regardless of the guilty or not guilty of being party to the death of their daughter - they sure as hell are guilty of neglect. If they are so sure of their innocence they should not need to plead to celebs. to get them out of the hole = the hole incidentally that they have dug for themselves from day one. Richard Branson has gone down dramatically in my estimation - the pledge £100,000 would have gone to better use had he donated it to providing a cheche in an inner city location, where the mums would love a break for a few hours but cant afford child care. Hey but now, they can leave their kids unattended and should the worst happed - go cap in hand to Richard - he’ll bail me out. Like hell he would - Branson would not have got the publicity from that one would he? By contributing to legal beavers to fight the case of these two irresponsible people is no more and no less that condoning their actions to leave the children alone. I travel regularly to the US, but in future, my last choice will be Virgin Airlines - I used to think they were decent - but not any more.
September 16th, 2007 at 7:12 pm
sorry for typos. (”pattern of neglect”, in first line).
September 16th, 2007 at 7:10 pm
creating a pattern on neglect while on holiday may be a red herring: something the public can get outraged about.
What if they did not leave their children alone in an unlocked apartment?
Who said it was unlocked when they went to dinner? They did.
Who sernt in and out of allegedly unlocked apartment: only them. Remember, their friend said he only listened at the door. (why go all the way there and not go in? he was also a doctor, and would not take a chance with other people’s kids). If the door was locked, though, he would have to just listen at the door.
And if the apartment patio doors were locked, what a difference: child in care of parents in locked apartment, with no sign of forced entry, DISAPPEARS. Parents, even according to their own story of check-ins at 9:05 and 10:00, are last ones to see her alive.
So you see the parents MUST say the door was unlocked, even if that unleashes outrage. Because otherwise all the evidence points to them.
And the outrage is a big distraction: a red herring.

Alice fantastic, that’s the what Ive been thinking and you said it better than i could.!!
oh and they always deny that hey had much to drink in the tapas bar. but according to the Daily Mirror the families met daily at a restaurant at 5pm so the kids could all have their tea. While the kids ate the parents had a drink. in fact according to the waiters ‘lots of drinks’ maybe if they did that every day it would explain this lapse of judgement all these parents about leaving their children alone. That’s odd as well isn’t it. several sets of parents and a Grandmother, all so called intelligent, educated people all leaving young children alone. Are social services going to investigate them as well. after all one child was younger then the twins and one was sick and vomiting wasn’t it. they all sound very neglectful to me

Just seen this on a news report
The fund will finance a broad range of initiatives in advertising to remind everyone that Madeleine is still missing,” Gerry McCann’s brother John told a press conference in Rothley, on Saturday.
Like Gerry and Kate McCann, John McCann lives in the Leicestershire village.
I didn’t realise that both Gerry and his brother John lived in that same small Leicestershire village. I thought that brother John lived in Scotland. He could have house sat and baby sat while the McCanns went off on their own to Portugal - it sounds pretty clear that all they really wanted from their hols was time with their friends, jogging up a hill and playing tennis. The one thing I just cannot come to grips with is taking a family holiday and putting your kids in a cheche - it just doesnt ring true to true family values. When you are living such busy lives - holidays are the one time when you can be with your kids 24/7 and if Kate is the “wonderful” mother she is being heralded to be by her mates, then she should have been “holidaying” with the kids not “hiding” from them at some taspas bar

Anon, I just had contact with my information desk in Portugal.(Skype)
RTPtv: it was the talk show of Fátima Ferreira “Prós e Contras”.
The PJ man is “Presidente do Sindicato dos Funcionários da Investigação Criminal”. He is the one who told that investigations on telephone calls of the Mccanns showed that they called Sky News first.
The Correio da Manhã of 10 September comments this Sky News call.
Look for “PJ acredita que Kate matou a filha”.(PJ believes Kate killed the daughter).
September 16th, 2007 at 3:39 pm
the newspapers have really been bias since the beginning of this case. and on the mccan side. when it was reported that they left their children alone why they went out, and one had vanished, no one but no one wrote any word of criticizing them. in fact excuses were made for them as if that’s what all parents did. even now the major papers take great care to state how any new news incriminating them cant be true.
September 16th, 2007 at 12:36 pm
Anon, the telephone call (Sky News) was commented on a talk show by a PJ on RTP tv.
There were three people on that show: the PJ, a Spanish psychiatrist and another Portuguese man whose profession I do’t know.
It seems that the law in Portugal wil soon change or even has already changed.
The police will be allowed to talk about investigations.
But I don’t know if thiis is true. I have to check on that.
September 16th, 2007 at 12:47 am
Hi Malou
Is it possible to find out who on RTP TV confirmed the telephone reports (was it the spokesperson for the PJ that has been condirming or denying other reports??) or was it just a ‘police source’? I have been looking everywhere, even on the RTP TV website and it doesn’t mention the confirmation just the original story from a french newspaper listing a ‘police source’
Thanks!!
September 15th, 2007 at 11:59 pm
As I wrote on the other blog (crime watch?) the PJ denied today to have the intention to dismantel the Mccanns car. RTP tv.
A inspector of the PJ commented that it is the first time in his professional life that he expearences such a huge amount of false stories, stories about this crime, published by the media.
I fear that it was not an accident. If they did hide her body so perfectly, it could have been more than an accident.Too many evidences on her body. And they got help from others, that is for sure.God forbid, but was it premeditated?

Hello Malou
I’m inclined not to believe Sky news either because I never believe much of what they put out anyway.
Why have we got such a biased media?
Probably because we have got subjective human beings running it.
September 14th, 2007 at 9:13 pm
Today I checked again with Portugal and the lady repeated that the PJ or ex PJ man said on RTP tv that the PJ checked on the Mccanns calls that night and they really called Sky News, still before they called the police.
If Sky News denied the story probably because they want to keep it secret.
I am inclined to believe the police.
I remember that the day after this statement the Portuguese media were commenting his words. Today or yesterday the media was telling that the PJ checked on a British man, about two months ago, who has (had) a yacht in Lagos, I think, and who could have helped the parents by getting rid of the corpse. The media talk about a body in a sac with heavy stones, throun in the sea.If this is true, I have difficulties to believe that this was an accident.

I’ve read that it is illegal to investigate a crime in Portugal unless you are the PJ. Another private investigations company went (I think it is Strongwood?) and got into some trouble with the local PJ for doing investigations.
I’ll try an find the link and then post.
PS - I wonder if Kate & Gerry are arrested whether the board members of the fund will release some kind of financial statements to prove that the fund was not complicite with K & G…. I believe the board members are very concerned that the fund with not appear transparent …
September 14th, 2007 at 1:47 am
And why not get money from the Fund released and get some action in the form of the best private investigators money can buy because if Madeleine is still alive then time is of the essence.
It would be interesting to know what exactly the Fund has done so far and how much money they have been prepared to spend to look for Madeleine.
Who would care if you had to spend all your money, sell your house, whatever, most people would be more than willing to do that to find a child that was lost somewhere out there.
September 14th, 2007 at 1:18 am
Hi Tiana
I think that after the DNA debacle and being publicly named as peddling the rumour mill, SKY will be a lot more careful - I’m leaning toward beleiveing that Gerry didn’t call SKY.
But as I said before - if it turns out he did - I will take back every word I have said in their defence!!
Have you heard any more on the visit from child services???
September 14th, 2007 at 1:02 am

Regarding phone call to Sky, there is a posting re this on 604 and 605 above.
I for one would be wary of what Sky comes out with as I am not convinced they are unbiased and objective and if it turned out to be true how bad it would look for the McCanns and for Sky.
