Coronavirus: Fox News debates the unknown knowns and known unknowns

Coronavirus has placed the UK on a war footing – and we all know what war is good for: yep – hours and hours of strident to deadline punditry. Every nodding head who knew all about politics and Brexit is now an authority on the Covid-19 crisis. In this video the Washington Post highlights the bullshit.com-ery of Fox News, whose pundit know one thing and that thing is always true fact. You can wonder, of course, why the WaPo is bothering to tell its readers why something they most likely don’t watch is rubbish – maybe it helps shore up notions of what their news outlet isn’t and maybe is.

The Washington Post says:

For weeks, some of Fox News’s most popular hosts downplayed the threat of the coronavirus, characterizing it as a conspiracy by media organizations and Democrats to undermine President Trump.

Fox News personalities such as Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham accused the news media of whipping up “mass hysteria” and being “panic pushers.” Fox Business host Trish Regan called the alleged media-Democratic alliance “yet another attempt to impeach the president.”

Back here in the UK, we’d had one thing reaffirmed: people all live in society. Do we try to mitigate the virus or suppression? Do we allow people to think for themselves, pay heed to official information channels and leave the to-deadline media to veer between calling it a hoax and trailing the apocalypse.

Cosby Show star tries to forget working with Bill: the delicious shaming of Geoffrey Owens

There’s a thrill in spotting a famous face. And we can imagine the excitement when, as Fox News puts it in breathless tones,  “‘Cosby Show’ actor Geoffrey Owens [was] spotted bagging groceries at NJ Trader Joe’s.” Admittedly, I’ve no idea who Owens is, but if others do then I’m happy to gawp and learn. The 1980s show’s Bill Cosby, aka Dr. Heathcliff “Cliff” Huxtable, would have been a bigger draw, as would have Lisa Bonet, the elfin object of ruby adolescent dreams, who appeared as his daughter Denise. But Owens, who played the hit show’s Elvin Tibideaux (1985–1992; thanks Wikipedia), is who we have in the crosshairs, and Fox News is excited.

Geoffreyowencosbytrader

Worker spotted working. “I had a job and I still have a job,” says man.

Geoffrey Owens was “spotted by a local shopper at the Clifton, N.J. store, standing behind one of the checkout counters and wearing a Trader Joe’s staff shirt with a name tag that read, ‘Geoffrey’.”  The local shopper was thoughtful enough to take pictures of Owens at work. As these “exclusive photos reveal”. He “wore a Trader Joe€’s t-shirt with stain marks on the front as he weighed a bag of potatoes.” But that’s still a cleaner living than hanging out with Bill Cosby, as many might say.

Owens is billed as a “former star”, which is not exactly true because people still recognise him, which makes him more than starry enough for a Fox News exclusive and, most likely, a stint on Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity Bake Off.

The star spotters are revealed as Karma and Yanelle Lawrence, 50, and Yanelle, 40. “€œI was getting a bunch of groceries and he wasn’t really looking at anybody, but he said, ‘Have a nice day,'” says Karma.€™ “€œHe looked bloated and fat and unhappy.”

This week Geoffrey Owens, next week  Brian Bonsall. Who knew life could be so exciting? Have a nice day!

Fox News attack Muslim author on Jesus for not being Christian enough – audience agrees

reza aslan

ACCORDING to the Fox News religion expert, Lauren Green, you can only write about Jesus if you’re a Christian. This explains why only ex-footballers are allowed to talk about soccer on Fox, Republicans are only able to discuss their party with any insight and Fox’s roving reporter ZogH1 is the leading authority on space travel.

Richard Bartholomew looks at the idiocy.

ONE does not expect much from Fox News at the best of times; but a recent interview with Reza Aslan has – deservedly – come under particular mockery for the interviewer’s ignorance and bad faith.

The interview was conducted by Lauren Green, who is described as being “a religion correspondent” for Fox, and it concerned Aslan’s new book Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth. Green appeared to no know little of the book or of scholarship in general, and the segment consists exclusively of her demanding an explanation from Aslan about why a Muslim would write a book about Jesus.

Fox News reporter throws basketball in toddler’s face

Titus Ashby

FOX News reporters are all dreadful and are probably secret Illuminati lizards or something, so it should come as no surprise that one such anchor made an infant cry, live on TV.

The child in question is called ‘Trick Shot’ Titus Ashby who has deadly accuracy in the paint, lobbing free-throws in for fun. He’s two years old.

He’s been hitting the hoop since he was 15 months young, so it is no surprise that he’s making TV appearances.

Rupert Murdoch Beats Barack Obama And Waitrose: Video

fox-newsBARACK Obama doesn’t want to talk to Fox News. Waitrose, the British supermarket, pulls its adverts from Fox news as customers take offence at host Glenn Beck taking offence at Obama (he says that Obama – who is half white – is anti-white).

Obama should laugh it off. But instead he has a hissy fit and his administration says that everyone can come into the big press pool pit except Fox. The other big networks revolts. One out, all out.

Obama is forced to back down.

And in Blighty – well, Waitrose is handing out free copies of the Times with every food delivery by Ocado. Who owns the Times. Rupert Murdoch owns the Times. Who owns Fox… ?

Anyone? Video:

Sarah Palin Talks About Herself In The Third Person

SARAH Palin will do what is right for Sarah Palin. It has happened. Sarah Palin is now a celebrity – she’s talking about herself in the third person. Says Sarah Palin on Sarah Palin:

“Ok I’ll tell you honestly the Sarah Palin in those interviews is a little bit annoyed because it’s man no matter what you say you are going to get clobbered. If you choose to answer a question you are going to get clobbered on the answer,” Palin said. “If you choose to try and pivot and go on to another subject that you believe that Americans want to hear about you get clobbered for that too.”

Of course, Palin is in conversaiton with Fox News’ Carl Cameron, and that is very much like talking into a mirror that reminds you that you are the most beautiful of them all, and you shall go to the inauguration ball.
