Moonbat Bites Driver Of Non Hybrid Bus

YOU are worried about the planet. Who eschew  car for a bus. You wait. And when the bus comes it is powered by petrol. Not a hybrid. You erupt:

“She came on the bus, and she said she waited more than an hour for a hybrid,” said MTA driver Peter Williams, 42. “I said, ‘I’m not in control of what bus is assigned to me.'”…

The Carnivorous Lampshade Robot Turns Insects Into Fuel

OIL is running out. We need power. Insects are invading the country. The solution is the Carnivorous Lampshade Robot:

Material Beliefs have created a Carnivorous Lampshade Robot inspired by the pitcher plant, a carnivorous plant that attracts and consumes insects to survive. The insects fall into the plant and are unable to escape. In the same way, this spherical lampshade has multiple holes in its surface which are long funnels going deep into the lamp.

Snow Falls On Dubai And UAE: Air Conditioning To Blame

SNOW is falling in global warming centre of excellence Dubai and the rest of the UAE, sponsor of the USA.

Snow covered the Jebel Jais area for only the second time in recorded history yesterday.

So rare was the event that one lifelong resident said the local dialect had no word for it.

Thankfully no locals work in Dubai anymore and the indentured labour call it “snow“.

Scare Stories: Electric Vehicles Kill The Green Cross Code Man

SCARE Stories: Anorak’s daily look at horror stories making news – when electric cars and golf carts attack:

Harold Scruby from the Pedestrian Council of Australia said children, cyclists, the elderly and the blind were most at risk of being hit by the electric vehicles, which emitted much less noise than petrol or diesel vehicles.

Stop. Look. Sniff:

“When children are taught to cross the road they’re taught three things _ stop, look and listen,’’ he said.

“When you have an electric car running on electric mode you can’t hear them.

“It should be mandatory that these manufacturers build into them some noise function – not too noisy, but enough so that people can hear them coming.’’

Detroit Is The World’s First Green City

DETROIT is all set to become the modern world’s first green city. The Detroit blog tours the city’s north end:

Now it’s the realm of crickets and meadows, where besides the dope dealers, the hookers, and the walking dead ambling past empty fields, are regular but poor people who have to live surrounded by decay and misery, in a neighborhood most others are too scared to drive through, surrounded by grinding poverty and the dregs of society, the only world they know, utterly unaware that a normal, safe neighborhood once stood here but was wiped off the face of the earth.

It’s like Machu Picchu, but less hilly and with better air quality:

Melting Al Gore And Carbon Breathalyzers For Humans

GLOBAL warming update time. A blow on the foreigners and news that the Met Office has spent £33m on a new supercomputer to calculate how climate change will affect Britain – only to find the new machine has a giant carbon footprint of its own.

The new supercomputer, which will become operational later this year, will emit 14,400 tonnes of CO2 a year,” says Dave Britton, the Met Office’s chief press officer. This is equivalent to the CO2 emitted by 2,400 homes – generating an average of six tonnes each a year.

What we need is computer like this in every household to tell us what we’re doing wrong.

Obama Cures Global Warming: Seagulls Awed

ABC’s Bill Weir sees the Obama rapture:

Can national pride make a freezing day feel warmer?”

“Never have so many people shivered so long with such joy”

“From above, even the seagulls must have been awed by the blanket of humanity.”

Maybe the seagulls can help him to harness the sun?

Yes We Canute: Obama Has Four Years To Turn Back The Rising Tide

BARACK Obama has four yaars to save the world. Fact:

Barack Obama has only four years to save the world. That is the stark assessment of Nasa scientist and leading climate expert Jim Hansen who last week warned only urgent action by the new president could halt the devastating climate change that now threatens Earth. Crucially, that action will have to be taken within Obama’s first administration, he added.

What are the odds?

Bottle Of M: Drink The Water And The Polar Bear Drowns

WATER? Yes. In a bottle? Why, yes. Would madam prefer the drowning polar bear or the suffocating penguin? Dead walrus?

Inside every Bottle of M lies a somber scene of environmental meltdown caused by irresponsible plastic disposal.

She’d like this:

As the drink in the bottle gets emptied out, the subtle message would remind one to dispose off the empty bottle into the recycling bin. Through a little more attention in packaging design, Bottle of ‘M’ being a humble daily object, hopes to bring the message of environmental awareness to the public effectively.

Bottle of ‘M’ aims, not only to enhance drinking pleasure, but also takes care of its whole life cycle, from cradle to grave.

Can you ge them of babies penguins dying on baby bottles? Hey. I’ve got ideas – lots of them. Call me.

Petrol Cars Tow Democrat’s Empty Green Cars Home From Washington

GREEN cars can get you there, almost. But they can’t get you back. Democrat Eric Massa has a problem:

A hydrogen fuel cell car driven by U.S. Rep. Eric Massa to Washington, D.C. on Monday didn’t actually get him all the way there.

Massa had to be in the nation’s capital Tuesday for his swearing in as the 29th Congressional District’s new representative. He drove the General Motors Equinox prototype car to draw attention to the technology, some of which is being developed in the district.

The problem is the car can go about 150 to 200 miles without a refill, and the trip from Corning to Washington, D.C. is 282 miles. And there are no hydrogen refilling stations along the way.

Turn off the aircon:

As a result, Massa had to switch to another GM hydrogen fuel cell vehicle that was standing by in Harrisburg.

After the trip, both cars were towed back to their original locations by two Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid SUVs.

The need to make the switch was also part of the effort to promote the more environmentally friendly hydrogen fuel cell cars, said Massa spokesman Jared Smith.

Point made.

Paint The World White To Cure Global Warming

IN the Guardain, Hashem Akbari “has a vision of a shiny, happy world. He sees polished roads and cities that gleam in the sunlight. Rooftops are bright and pavements light. Akbari wants to turn our cities into a giant mirror and he needs your help. And paint, lots of it.”

He wants to paint the world white:

His big idea is based on principles as old as the whitewashed villages that scatter the hills of southern Europe and North Africa. Turn enough of the world’s black urban landscape white, he says, and it would reflect enough sunlight to delay global warming, and grant us some precious breathing space in the global struggle to control carbon emissions.

Akbari is poised to launch a campaign to paint the world white. He wants dozens of the world’s largest cities to unite in an effort to replace the dark-coloured materials used to cover roads and roofs with something a little more reflective.

Genuius! And just as soon as the snow and ice melt he can paint everything, er, white…

Your Old Media Light Bulb Is The Same As My Blogged Green Light Bulb

HOW the media works: light bulbs. Richard North investigates:

As it stands – and the numbers vary from hour to hour – there are 28,595 individual media stories posted on Google News covering the Gaza conflict. But how many of them are genuine, individual stories, based on accurate, reliable first-hand information?

That the media indulges in group-think and plagiarises each others’ stories is hardly new, but it is a useful corrective to remind ourselves of how prevalent and blatant this practice really is.

Step away from Gaza for one moment, and look at a completely different issue – one we tackled yesterday, the great light-bulb story. Go to The Daily Mail and you will see a follow-up story by David Derbyshire headlined, “The low-energy bulbs that won’t fit your light sockets”. It is datelined 11:03 PM on 07th January 2009.

Go on:

Kristallnacht: Panic Buying As Last Lights Go Out In Britian

WILL the last person in Britain please turn the Great British lights back on? The Mail leads the clarion call:

Revolt! Robbed of their right to buy traditional light bulbs, millions are clearing shelves of last supplies.

On it goes:

Millions of Britons are finally waking up to the fact that their beloved light bulb will disappear for good after 120 years.

The Great British light bulb has been lighting up the country since 1889, having first been ignited by late The Queen Mother. With her gone, we at least had the bulb, but now the European Union has crushed it beneath their jackboots.
