Madeleine McCann: Quiet Metodo 3, Christmas With The McCanns And Michaela Walczuch Says
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SUNDAY MIRROR: “McCanns tell of twins’ tearful plea - Exclusive: Day 227: Kate and Gerry tell of Xmas anguish”
Lori Campbell, the reporter who told the police of “creepy” Robert Murat and then told the world about it, writes: “The parents of Madeleine McCann told last night how her little brother and sister heartbreakingly asked them: Will Santa bring her home for Christmas?”
Says Kate and Gerry McCann: “Celebrating is the last thing we feel like doing, but we want Christmas to be as normal for Sean and Amelie as possible. They both seem to understand they will be getting presents from Santa, but have also asked if Santa will be bringing Madeleine home, which just about broke our hearts”
This is the news…
Say the McCanns: “Madeleine’s return would obviously be the ultimate present for all of us and would bring tremendous joy to people all over the world” – Their Madeleine is Our Maddy
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “MURAT GIRL’S MCCANN ATTACK”
“The girlfriend of Madeleine McCann suspect Robert Murat has sensationally attacked the youngster’s parents over her disappearance”
“A child should not suffer because of the actions of their parents. I don’t believe in leaving a child on their own.
Says Michaela Walczuch: “How dare people accuse me, a normal human being and a mother of a child, for the mistakes of others. As a parent I hope that the McCanns find their daughter. I’m very sorry that a child is missing and that they don’t know what happened to her but I don’t have anything to do with it”
Police are at her door: “They kept telling me Robert was a bad man, a dangerous man who had pictures of young children on his computers, that he may have put it on my computers. But I know he is not a monster. It was ridiculous. I never doubted Rob. I knew it was nonsense”
The People says Michaela escaped a “potential kidnapper when she was a nine-year-old in Germany”. She moved from Frankfurt to the Algarve to live with her grandmother when she was 12 after both parents died of cancer. “Her eight-year-old daughter is seeing a psychiatrist because of the trauma of the police raid”
“BOASTFUL TEC BOSS RAPPED” – “Furious” Gerry and Kate McCann have had a “bust-up” with their Spanish private detectives Metodo 3
Says a source: “It is fair to say that relations between the McCann camp and the private ‘tecs are at an all-time low. The McCanns are still confident Metodo 3 are doing a good job and have no plans to sack them before their contract runs out. But they are concerned about the publicity Mr Marco is generating and the effect it could have on chances of finding their daughter alive”
“QUEEN’S MADDIE ‘TRIBUTE” - The Queen is considering talking about Maddie in her Christmas speech. Parents Kate and Gerry are “deeply touched” by Her Majesty’s concern
Says a Palace spokesman: “We cannot comment on the contents of the speech”
Such are the facts
SO ‘DIFFICULT FOR PARENTS’ – Says McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “I’d ask that the media now respect their request for a private Christmas”
SUNDAY EXPRESS: “NEW EVIDENCE ON MADDIE”
“The FBI has been asked to examine CCTV footage of three men acting suspiciously near the Algarve apartment that Madeleine McCann disappeared from”
The FBI…in America?
“One of the men captured on camera on both nights bears a strong resemblance to a man with long, dark hair seen carrying a child, as reported by the McCanns’ friend Jane Tanner,” says the paper
“Today we can also reveal that sniffer dogs taken to a disused barn 30 miles from Praia da Luz have shown strong interest in two sites. One is what appears to be a 14ft mineshaft opening to an underground cavity, and the other is where earth has been disturbed, possibly covering a shallow grave”
Or not…
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “McCanns: it will be a tough Christmas”
“The couple, who are Roman Catholics, will attend a midnight mass on Christmas Eve at which prayers will be said for their missing daughter” – So too will TV crews and newspaper reporters
“A homecoming too far for the McCanns” – “Of all the cruel and unusual headlines generated by the McCann case, it is simply the cruellest; Madeleine, we learned on Friday, could be ‘home for Christmas’”
There have been crueller – the swingers, the parentage, the sightings and more in Morocco
“Journalistic hyperbole was not to blame for the happy-ever-after headline. The words accurately reflected claims made by the private investigator hired by the McCanns”
Metodo 3 in the dock
DAILY STAR ON SUNDAY: “CHRISTMAS PLEA TO MADDIE WITNESSES”
“Detectives searching for Madeleine McCann are trying to trace 24 British holidaymakers who may hold vital clues. They were staying at the same Portuguese holiday complex as Madeleine when she vanished on May 3. Despite several high-profile appeals in the seven-and-a-half months since her disappearance, they have yet to come forward”
How the Star must hope for 24 more new witness sensations
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “Madeleine: McCanns tell private detectives to put an end to ‘wild’ claims”
Furious Kate and Gerry McCann have told their private detectives to stop making wild claims about the recovery of their daughter”
Fury. Furious. Always the fury…
A “close friend of the family” says: “It’s not helpful and we have told them that. They have been told not to do any more interviews”
But wasn’t publicity the point of the Find Madeleine campaign, which pays the bills for Metodo 3? Surely, the more interviews the better…
“Madeleine: Murat’s girlfriend says she’s being ‘maliciously accused to protect the McCanns’” – An exclusive Michaela Walczuch interview with The Mail on Sunday (see Sunday People)
Says she: “On May 5 [when she was allegedly 'spotted' with a child in a blanket] I spent the morning cleaning my house, then I went to the hairdressers and in the evening I had a meal with two friends and Rob [Murat].
“On June 15, when I was supposed to be in Morocco, I went to see my lawyer and then had lunch with Rob and his lawyer. After that I went to the bank”
NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Twins ask Santa to bring Maddie back”
Is that all Sean and Amelie McCanns asked Santa for? “Missing Madeleine McCann’s baby brother and sister want to know just one thing this Christmas: ‘Will Santa bring Madeleine home?’”
Kate and Gerry, “both 39-year-old doctors”, say: “We have had many enquiries as to our plans for the festive period. Christmas 2007 will be an incredibly difficult time for us if Madeleine is not found before then”
Yes, both doctors. Such are the facts…
Say the McCanns: “As the end of the year approaches we would like to thank News of the World readers who have offered support over the last seven months—and we ask you to stay with us as the search for our daughter continues”
Keep reading. Keep buying the paper for all your Madeleine McCann news and McCann interviews. Oh, and keep giving to the Find Madeleine Fund, which pays for Metodo 3
“And the chances of his lucrative contract being renewed in March when it runs out are understood to be ‘virtually nil’”…
THE SUNDAY TIMES: “Kate and Gerry McCann: Beyond the smears”
“For six months David James Smith has examined the evidence surrounding the disappearance of Madeleine McCann for The Sunday Times Magazine. In this, the most comprehensive — and authoritative — investigation yet, he addresses the key issues facing Gerry and Kate as they prepare for Christmas without their daughter”
A whodunnit? We turn to the end of the piece – look away now if you don’t want to know what happened…
“If you have any information that may help the search for Madeleine, please call the confidential phone line 0034 902 300213 or visit www.findmadeleine.com”
“The perfect picture of Britain: a chav Christmas” – Writes Ron Liddle: “A Portuguese journalist has suggested that Kate McCann was only “one step away from prison” at one point during the police investigation into the whereabouts of her missing daughter, Madeleine…
“It’s a shame that this ‘preferential treatment’ didn’t extend to an even barely competent investigation of the case, you might think. Six months after Madeleine went missing, the Portuguese old bill at last got around to sending in sniffer dogs to the McCanns’ apartment where they think they found some specks of blood, but aren’t entirely sure. Meanwhile, the boss of the investigation, Goncalo ‘Sherlock’ Amaral, was sacked. The Portuguese public – out of straightforward xenophobia – have always assumed the McCanns to be guilty, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Thinking of the Algarve next year? Think again”
Stay indoors. Grab your children. Because it could be you…

Dear me, just noticed this thread and what a surprise I got!
So many judgmental people …. none of whom are aware of the facts of this case and all of whom are relying on media sources, even the writer of this initial thread.
Dear me……what have we come to, let’s hope it doesn’t happen to your children when you turn your backs in a supermarket (Jamie Bulger).
You should really get a life…you’ve all got too much time on your hands!

(ESPECIALLY if they can get paid for it. After all, it’s not like they are ever going to be able to find a proper work in a proper newspaper.)

Firstly ,Cheryl, the poster was NOT being castigated, she was being asked or requested to bring a sense of balance to her post, and include all 3 arguidos in any resulting discussion. The Press was heavily laden all weekend with reports that Murats family is still under suspicion, and that his daughter is receiving medical attention because of all attention. Or do you not see that as fires raging?
You also posed why is Tony Bennett not being castigated, well as we were not castigating the poster involved, and Tony Bennetts postings are another matter, could we enquire as to whether you know who and what is being discussed behind the scenes?

REPLY: “Fires raging” against Murat - quite frankly a fire is burning yes but raging as destructively as against the McCanns absolutely not! Castigating may have been too strong a word, and I stand corrected to be so incorrect as to use such a harsh word as to how I perceived it to be, to describe your what “asked or requested”, to a poster to bring a sense of balance on here. However, I repeat - I’ve seen no such asking or requesting of TB on here over the outright inflammatory listings he posted.

Ah, good point. Probably at first the McCanns incredibly told the police that they did not have any, and yet weeks later came up with that “last photo”.
Contradictions in their private statements to police are likely even more numerous than we are aware.
Another thought I had is that maybe the PDL priest knows what happened not because of the McCanns’ confession, but because of someone else’s confession. Maybe a T9 member (or non-member) made a confession, either sincerely repenting, or as a ploy to leak out the truth. I do not think the McCanns would confess, even privately to a priest.

Thanks for pointing that out. Not only is it dangerous, but the shot is another example of Madeleine as little girl being dolled up, and treated like an “adult” with cosmetics, etc. Was this her main activity, besides, er… never mind…
It’s creepy that the McCanns have so few “normal”-looking photos of the girl (and only a couple from a week-long vacation in Portugal). Looking at a collection of photos they have published, it does not even seem like they are trying to make her recognizable. One would not really know “which Madeleine” to look for. (answer: none of them, because there was no abduction, IMO)

As a matter of no particular interest, I have now printed off all the dated e-mails, faxes and other communications that Christine and I have sent to the papers and the Police from Day One in both countries, and have sent them to Paulo Rebelo.
I don’t know why but I have told him of our frustration that no-one took a blind bit of notice from the start and if they had followed half of what Christine said, the child might have been found sooner, possibly alive if they had moved quickly enough, but - sadly - more than likely dead.
I have done that because I think even he was frustrated about all the cock-ups and delays that are now evident, however, I do believe they will be met with the same thunderous silence as before ….but it makes me feel better !!

Madeleine McCann Suspect Robert Murat Helped Police Interviewers
Last Edited: Monday, 17 Dec 2007, 12:30 AM CST
Created: Sunday, 16 Dec 2007, 11:00 PM CST
12/17/2007 —
More questions are being asked about the investigation in to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann after reports that suspect Robert Murat was present at interviews with members of the so-called Tapas Seven.
It is claimed that Portuguese detectives let Mr Murat act as a translator during interviews with friends of Kate and Gerry McCann who were dining with the couple on the night their daughter vanished.
Days later the 33-year-old was named as an arguido, or official suspect.
The Daily Mirror said Mr Murat was allegedly present during the interviews of Rachael Oldfield and Dianne Webster.
However, a source close to the McCanns said it was understood that although Mr Murat did attend Ms Webster’s questioning, he was not present when Mrs Oldfield
was with police.
The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “We can’t comment on anything that’s contained within the police file and clearly records of interviews and who attended them make up part of that file.
“Any serious questions to be answered about the way the original interviews were conducted or who attended them will be central to our own private investigation, and the detectives who have been employed on our behalf will be looking into that.”

This is a picture I had not seen. Once again, clearly dark mascara has been used. They eyes are themselves darkened (by photoshop?) as in other pictures.
The same darkening occurs in other pictures, and is not resulting from the natural lighting. Is the purpose to hide the use of mascara and/or prevent us from ascertaining whether or not a coloboma or other eye condition is present?
Use zoom and you will see how unnatural the darkening appears.
Why have the McCanns only shown a couple of photos of Madeleine from supposedly a whole week at the resort? Why are so many photos they used for identifying her obviously from a year or more prior? Why do they hide the coloboma with photoshop? Why is mascara evident in most pictures (of Madeleine and of twins)?
That the McCanns are hiding something is obvious. I think they have tried to make Madeleine look younger than she really appearered at the time, because it was a younger girl that was actually attending the creche. I do not think Madeleine attended the creche even for one day. If this is true, the police should already know; they only have to show photos of all the girls to the nannies. So I’d assume they demanded the T9 to turn over all photos. I wonder what the McCanns said about Madeleine’s photos — oh, we accidentally deleted all of them…?…

Jane, would you balance those questions put regarding the McCann non involvement by comparing the third arguido and his trial by media and his non involvement too
…………………………….
Thank you for pointing that out, Mod and Admin. You are entirely correct, I should have balanced my posting with reference to the third arguido, Mr Murat, and will correct that now.
As you rightly state, Mr Murat has been effectively tried by the media - and that is equally wrong. He has the same right to due process and a fair trial that every one of us has - or should have. He has the same right to the presumption of innocence. Yet Mr Murat has also been the subject of allegations in both the media and on the internet which may be thought to prejudice any chance he has of a fair trial.
Shouldn’t we allow all of these people, the McCanns, Robert Murat, the McCanns’ friends who holidayed with them and any others interviewed by the police during the course of this investigation the benefit of the presumption of innocence until such time as the courts decide just who is responsible for Madeleine’s disappearance?
REPLY: Jane, I agree with you totally on what you have said in both posts!
Mods and Admin:
What gives me great pause and brings questions to my mind is why all of a sudden is a person who is not prejudging the McCanns and is questioning the statements of one of the most vocal anti-McCanns’ is now castigated by the Mods and Admin to make her statements of fairness re the McCanns include the other arguido!
May I politely ask where is your castigation to TB for posting his lists on here, as well as continually adding on to it, thus deliberately adding fuel to the fires already raging against the McCanns, and leaving out any mention of any possibility of another party or parties being guilty?

On Michaela Walczuch, quote from Anorak news:
“Police are at her door: “They kept telling me Robert was a bad man, a dangerous man who had pictures of young children on his computers, that he may have put it on my computers. But I know he is not a monster. It was ridiculous. I never doubted Rob. I knew it was nonsense.””
No one will doubt that the context clearly shows that the police told her about CHILD PORN on Murat’s computer. This is very startling news. Murat was never charged with anything, and yet their telling her would indicate that they are very sure. (a separate question is whether this is appropriate even if they are sure — but if they are not sure, it is unforgivable that they would warn her like that).
So if they were sure Murat is a “bad, dangerous” man , why didn’t they arrest him? Of course in another news report, it was said that Murat is a police informant involved in the criminal underworld. Was Murat playing along with the police, agreeing to this sort of bullying as part of his cover?
If Murat is an informant, and the McCanns knew Murat prior to arriving in PDL, then the police would have been monitoring the McCanns even before they arrived. If so, perhaps they already know everything about Madeleine’s disappearance, and are just pretending not to know, in order to
1) gather more intelligence about criminal activity
2) charge Kate with intentional murder, rather than unintentional
This is all mere speculation about allegedly alleged allegations…

56 Hideki wrote: “If Madeleine had died days before presumably they had plenty of time to clean up…”
“Hideki, not possible if Mrs Pamela Fenn was right - as I think she was - in stating that she heard Madeleine sobbing and crying out: ‘Daddy, Daddy’ between 10.30pm and 11.45pm on the late evening of Tuesday 1st May.”
But how does Pamela Fenn know that it was Madeleine and not one of the twins? I think a two year old is very capable of sobbing loudly and calling out for daddy. Was Fenn adamant that it was Madeleine, or was that part just inserted by the media?
Your later point to another poster that Fenn did not retract her comments is true I think — she just got sick and tired of the press, and told them to piss off. Then they took advantage of that and said something like “she is no longer claiming that she heard a child sobbing…”
“Whatever happened to Madeleine happened either late on Wednesday 2nd May or on Thursday 3rd May.IMO it was during Wednesday - because the abduction hoax, despite its success so far, does not in truth seem to have been all that well thought out and planned - it would have been easier, perhaps, to claim that an abductor came in through an open patio door at night time and quietly whisked Madeleine away whilst the parents were sleeping. Panic may have made them come up with a complex plot for the abduction scenario.”
Generally I agree with your reasoning that the abduction hoax is very poorly constructed. My point was that if Madeleine died on the first day that would explain why there were virtually no pictures of her at the resort, and could explain how the apartment was cleaned so thoroughly. As for why the hoax was still so poorly done despite having a few days to work it out….
I’m considering that it was NOT the McCanns who conceived the execution of the hoax. Someone behind the scenes has orchestrated it, and the poor quality seems deliberate to me. The most bizarre feature of this McCann case is the contrast between how horribly the McCanns have lied and how consistently the British media has said they are innocent. This prominent feature seems like a deliberate construction to me. It also fits in with the recent essays by O’Donnell and Smith. Those two were clearly commissioned to write pro-McCann pieces, but were given little snippets that they were required to include. Those little snippets are the points that UNDERMINE the defense of the McCanns. Thus it appeared to many that these authors were only pretending to support the McCanns — on the contrary, whoever commissioned them to write is PRETENDING to support the McCanns.
Your own scenario for a hoax is obviously superior and should have occurred to the McCanns and especially to MI5/MI6 (or whoever we imagine is “behind the scenes”) — if the goal was to convince everyone of an abduction. However, they chose an elaborate hoax that has been self-destructing all along.
Why did Gerry say he had been told that there behavior did not constitute child neglect? Surely he had OBJECTED to this plan on those grounds, and was told this in reply. Looking at it this way, the plan was conceived over a period of a few days in discussion with the McCanns — ie. the McCanns were PERSUADED that this plan would work. This explains the speed with which the fund-raising got underway, etc after May 3rd. All of that was planned for several days.
Now why did they choose a plan that gradually sinks Kate and Gerry into the quicksand of culpability? One reason would be to buy time, before letting Gerry descend into hell. During this time, whoever it is that wants to extricate themselves from any PDL paedophilia/drug/whatever network association can do so. Moreover, when the hat drops and Gerry is charged with all sorts of crimes, all of his duplicity and lying will come back to haunt him. It has all been recorded in the press, and even on videotape. When the time is right, those damning videotape clips will be aired over and over on TV, if necessary. This would have the effect of ensuring that Gerry will not implicate anyone else, and will not say things that they do not want said. If he does, “they” will show that he has zero credibility and is indeed a somewhat deranged man.
“I wonder if the McCanns came home drunk/stoned on Wednesday evening/early Thursday morning and didn’t discover Madeleine was dead until they woke up?”
Maybe. But it could have happened the first night as well.
All of the above is mere idle speculation — not sure I myself believe any of it….

The news from Metodo 3 are great, but I agree with Mr. and Mrs. Mccann that the agency should concentrate in finding Maddie than on in giving the press any comments. These comments are very positive and in spite of not been one of Maddie’s parents I am a parent of 2 boys, and I was born in Portugal. As a mother I feel very distressed for what happened to Maddie and I am sure it is impossible even to imagine the pain her parents are going through.
I keep checking the news in expectation to read to hear that Maddie is finally at home. I am deeply sad that this could have happened in Portugal, and I wish to express to the Mccann family my sincere and 100% support, and please believe me not all Portuguese are xenophobic.
I find very interesting the comments of the restaurant waiter, regarding the first words Mrs. Mccann pronounced when she discovered Maddie’s disapparence. Are we talking about the same waiter who also made comments on the behaviour of Mrs. Mccann and Mr. Mccann?
How dare anyone to make comments on other people in a situation like that? Maybe this is a vital person to be questionned, because we all remember that a waiter also testifies that the amount of bottles of wine drank by the group was bigger than what the group declared. For all of us Portuguese, we know too well that many restaurants in Portugal, and their waiters cheat the bills and the prices given to the foreign clients because they don’t speak the language and are very free with their money. The restaurants know it is illegal to have a price for the nationals and another price for the foreigners, however there are lots of restaurants in Portugal that practice this situation. To me as a Portuguese-Canadian, married to an english speaker Canadian, and I am not a lawyer or a detective, as soon I read the comments of the waiter, regarding Mrs. Mccann expressions, reactions and words and the discrepancy on the bill of the wine drank it raised a red flag about this person. Because my husband and I have visited Portugal several times in the past and we know how the system works there.
I am looking forward to the day, that Metodo 3 has Maddie at home with her family. Let’s hope as of next week. Be strong Mr. and Mrs. Mccann.

Spanish hotline out of action
The Metodo 3 hotline, set up by the private detectives company hired by the McCann, to receive information from potential witnesses, has been out of service in the last days. Several attempts to dial the number had no result and Clarence Mitchell, contacted by phone, confirmed that the contract with Metodo 3 wasn’t cancelled and admitted that the difficulties in getting somebody to answer the hotline could be due to the fact that Metodo 3 has changed his offices, recently. On the last message posted at the official site of Madeleine, Gerry appealed again to witnesses to contact the Spanish hotline: “We again appeal to anyone who may have any information that might be relevant to contact your local police or our private investigators on +34. 902. 300 213 if they have any information which might be relevant.”
