Texting Woman Who Fell Into Fountain Sues Mall: Cathy Marrero Does Seinfeld

DID you laugh when you saw texting Cathy Marrero tumble into the fountain at a shopping mall? If you did, then shame on you. And you’d best get a lawyer because Cathy Marrero is not one to be laughed at. No siree.

The 49-year-old is not amused. So. shs’s going to sue. She will begin by suing the mall in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. She says the staff who saw her fall into the fountain laughed. How very dare they! Says she:

“I saw the water coming at me, I could see the pennies and nickels at the bottom of the fountain and then I was in it.'”

Mrs Marrero seems to have a more sophisticated sense of humour than mere pratt falls. They may be ok for Charlie Chaplin, but this woman is one for detail. Seinfeld would consider the nickle a golden element in any retelling of the incident.

Joanna Yeates: Vincent Tabak’s Beanpole Surprise (Photos)

JOANNA Yeates: Vincent Tabak is the man in the news. He’s been arrested. He lives at Flat 2 44 Canynge Road, Clifton, Bristol. Joanna Yeates used to live in a property in the same building. She lived at Flat 1. Mr Tabak has lived has the property since 2009.

Police have not named Mr Tabak as a suspect. They did not afford Chris Jefferies the same courtesy. Back then, the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve, warned newspaper editors about the dangers of publishing “irrelevant or improper material”. The newspapers went to town on Mr Jefferies, giving him The Full Murat.

Will the press treat Mr Tabak with some respect and news of his apparent arrest with circumspection? His Facebook photo remain a gift to armchair sleuths. But will he be monstered?

The Sun is ever informative:

One colleague at consultant engineers Buro Happold in Bath said: “He is everything you expect from a Dutch bloke.”

Warsi Is Not Yet A Jew Nor A Shag Over The Dubai Dinner Table

BARONESS Warsi, co-chairman of the Tory Party, says prejudice against Muslims has passed the dinner-table test”.

When asked if they would shag a Muslim over the dinner table, 83% of married non-Muslims Britons said “yes”. This is down of last year’s figure of 94%. Many experts blame Lauren Booth’s conversion for the rise in prejudice and the survey being popular with ex-pats living in Dubai.

But British Muslims are not yet fully ingrained into the dinner table racism. Until a top author like a JK Rowling or Martin Amis can portray the villains as Muslims in much the same way John Buchan, George du Maurier’s Svengali, or Anthony Trollope have done, the chattering classes prejudice will just be chatter.

But being a Muslim in the UK is very different to being a Muslim in a Muslim country. You are held to a different standard.

Joanna Yeates: Sun Clears Chris Jefferies In Jo’s Garden

JOANNA Yeates: One day one from the police’s appeal – via Teresa Yeates (Joanna’s mother) – the papers lead with news of “Jo” and a new development in the hunt for her killer. And the shock news is that Chris Jefferies appears to have been cleared by the Sun – one of the papers that monstrered him.

The Sun (front page): “Jo cops close to breakthrough”
Daily Mirror (front page): “New Jo lead”

Joanna Yeates is the red-tops’ “Jo”, just as Madeleine McCann became our Maddie. She now only has a first name, like a Hollywood great or a family pet.

But there is no news of what the breakthrough is. This is just news that there might be a breakthrough.

Police believe her body was carried from her flat in a large suitcase or holdall. And they are scouring CCTV footage for motorists carrying a big bag in their car…The suitcase theory arose due to a lack of drag marks on Jo’s body or clothing.

What about a rug? What about the killer carrying her?

Joanna Yeates: Chris Jefferies Is More Robert Murat Than Serial Killer

The speculation continues:

But because there are 25 strides between her door and the road, they are convinced a case or large holdall was used to conceal the movement.

In one paragraph what the police believe becomes the police being convinced. What else?

A police insider said: “It would be strange if someone was able to move a body without being spotted. But someone carrying a bag or pulling a suitcase on wheels would not have stood out. It was the weekend before Christmas so a lot of people were going away for the holiday.”

Someone carrying a bag containing a 8st-10st woman would not have stood out, even in bad lighting? (Liz Jones looks as though she weighs less.) And we do know it is one killer the police are hunting because in that press conference appeal, Mrs Yeates spoke of looking for “someone”.

Nine stones is 126 pounds. That’s 57.2kgs. Ryan Air, for examples, allows its passengers to check in bags weighing 15kg or 20kg. Are they heavy? Yes. Now picture the woman or man pulling the bag that weighs almost 60kgs along a busy street and not standing out.

Vanessa Feltz, Channel Five And The Living Hell Of Writing For The Daily Express

VANESSA Feltz might be post-gastric band but she continues to fill the daytime schedules like a bulking agent in a packet of own-brand baps. She’s the face and more of a terrific show on FIVE (owner: Richard Desmond). Readers of the Express (owner: Richard Desmond) will surely be tuning in.

David Stephenson is the Express’s TV reviewer. Under the headline “THE WEEK’S REVIEW: FANTASTIC VANESSA FELTZ IS A MUST-SEE”, he tells readers how rubbish the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 are.

C4 has trapped people in the land of repeats

Zachary Jackson Levon: Elton John’s African Kids And A Sperm Shake

ELTON John cradles Zachary Jackson Levon in his arms and the years of waiting for an OK! magazine baby montage are finally at an end.

Elton says the inspiration for having a baby of their own was their failed bid to adopt Ukrainian orphans Lev and his brother Artyom.

So, surrogacy it was. Elton and David Furnish looked through a selection of “egg donor profiles”. A woman was chosen whose skin tones would set off Elton’s red robe he sports for the shoot and David’s dancing eyes.? And they had to select a surrogate. She is “very knowledgeable about natural, organic products for children, the types of nappies to use, ways to feed the baby”.

She’s a rare find in a Californian woman.

Michaela McAreavey In Photos: A Public Funeral

HOW do you write about Michaela McAreavey, the young woman murdered on her honeymoon? Do you focus on the killers? Do you just broadcast photos of the funeral cortege making its way to St Malachy’s church for her funeral from her parents’ home in Ballygawley, Co Tyrone? Do you show it all because Irish President Mary McAleese, the leader of Ireland’s Catholics, Dr Seán Brady, and the deputy first minister of Northern Ireland, Martin McGuinness were among the mourners and the dead woman’s father is Tyrone GAA manager Mickey Harte? Sometimes just showing is enough…

Joanna Yeates: The White Company Button, Liz Jones And Nathan Tomlinson

JOANNA YEATES: For the first time this year the murdered Bristol woman does not feature on the front page of the Daily Mirror. Colin Firth, Katie Price and Wayne Rooney take the cover.

But there is still some news. Laurie Hanna notes that the events as best known are to be filmed for the BBC’s Crimewatch.

As fact got that’s about as good as it gets because Hanna then delivers:

Yesterday top criminal profiler Professor David Canter suggested the killer may be a police officer. Prof Canter, whose crime-busting skills inspired TV’s Cracker, said: “It implies they’ve got some sort of experience with the investigative process.”

Nat Lofthouse: A Life In Photos, Ciggies And Wanderers

NAT Lofthouse RIP. This was your life in photos. You were the former Bevin Boy who played for Bolton Wanderers when they were winners (signing fee: £10 on the day after the second world war broke out). You played for England when they were the greatest. You played 33 times for England, scoring 30 goals. You became “The Lion of Vienna” as England defeated Austria 2-3 in a cauldron of noise and violence.

A footballer’s career has ups and downs – but when they die, it’s the glory that endures…

Buy the book.

Gaddafi Accuses Wikileaks Of Causing Death In Tunisia?

IN Tunisia, scores of people are dead. Libya’s Botoxnursed leader and Mickey Rourke look-alike Muammar Qaddafi (Gawker) says Wikileaks is to blame for the Jasmin Revolution and the bloodshed. Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali is gone. Is the old farter next?

Julian Assange once said Wikileaks’s work has led to the deaths of 1300 people in Kenya. (Does that make Assange guilty in his terms?) .

Gadaffi fingers the site for blame:

“WikiLeaks, which publishes information written by lying ambassadors in order to create chaos.”

Was Sadistic Sabrina Barber A Victim Of Mephedrone?

REMEMBER meow meow, aka mephedrone, the legal toxin that became an illegal high when the departing Labour Government wanted to look tough and made it illegal? It was linked to deaths but never actually proven to be responsible for any. Well, the Mail has news of the drug, and how it is implicated in a brutal and sadistic attack in Plymouth Hoe:

Sabrina Barber, 16, was high on miaow-miaow as she launched a ‘sustained and savage’ 90 minute attack on terrified Naomi Morrison, 17.

Reading that you could deduce that Barber was not responsible for her actions. It wasn’t her, yer honour, it was the drugs.

Sarah Palin Learnt About The Blood Libel From The New York Times’s Blacks

SARAH Palin is implicated in the murders of six people and the shooting of 14 more  by a nutzoid press reacting to nutzoid Jared Loughner. Obama puts his gun away to take nutzoid praise for rising above the partisan politics.

Palin wasn’t to blame. But she reacts to the barage of criticism by saying:

Especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.”

Michael Tomasky writes:

Okay, I guess I have to do this, but I’ll keep it short. I think she probably didn’t fully know what “blood libel” means, historically and culturally.

Where Is Europe’s Mohammed Bouazizi? Tunisia Has A Message For Europe

IN Tunisia Mohammed Bouazizi set himself alight in a protest over unemployment and state control.  He is now dead. Thích Quảng Đức did the same in Vietnam.  In Tunisia  Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, the Tunisian president, says he will nto run for office. After 23 years “serving” the people he will go in 2014. He’s already left. He’s in Malta. He will surely end up in Paris. And in his place is Prime Minister Mohammed Ghannouchi.

The Economist reports that Ali

“…turned Tunisia into a police state known for its efficiency. Occasional worries about authoritarian tendencies in more relaxed North African states such as Morocco were frequently referred to as ‘Ben-Alisation’.”

Things are brutal. A police sniper shoots to kill (warning – this is graphic):

But what next? One Egyptian blogger notes:

Revolutions in Egypt, Iran and Pakistan have had the same emotional reaction from people, as they stared in awe at their proclaimed ’saviors’ whose true face has now been revealed. They were no better than the previous leaders.
