Tim Farron is the illiberal Liberal

Tim Farron is the LibDem’s leader. He’s an Evangelical Christian. Does he think gay sex is a mortal sin, a crime against God? Conservative MP and former deputy speaker Nigel Evans asked him. “I do not,” says Farron. “I am very proud to have gone through the lobby behind the Honourable Gentleman under the Coalition Government where the Liberal Democrats introduced gay marriage, equal marriage and, indeed, did not go as far as it should in terms of recognising transgender rights. There’s so much more to be done. If we campaign in this election for an open, united and tolerant society, then we need to make sure we are not complacent in any way about LGBT rights.”

Farron was asked the same thing on Channel 4 News. “A while back I asked you whether it was true that you believed homosexuality was a sin, and you struggled to answer,” said Cathy Newman. “Now you’ve had a while to consider that question, what is the answer?” “I don’t think I struggled to answer, I talked about how I’m not in a position to be making theological pronouncements,” replied Tim.”…As a liberal, I’m passionate about equality – about equal marriage, about equal rights for LGBT people, fighting not just for LGBT rights in this country but overseas.”

Tim Farron’s beliefs are his own affair. You can believe what you like. When he abstained from voting for same-sex marriage in May 2013, he did so because it felt the right thing to do. Good for him. Not every movement necessitates the crushing and humiliation of our enemies. Freedom means expressing our heartfelt beliefs and causing offence. Hathos draws many towards religion and strict god-given moral codes as it once drew censors to outlaw gay sex. It exists for knowing narcissists to mock and use to define our righteous selves – we are what we are not. And we are not wrong.

We could be generous to Tim and think that he’s recognised his prejudices and done the liberal thing in discounting them in policy for the common good? Love for the ineffable and all human beings propels his support for gay rights. Maybe. Maybe not.

The gut feeling is that Tim Farron speaks with the conviction of a man who has read one book and agreed with everything in it. He says, “We are all sinners.” That’s a cop out. He’s an illiberal Liberal.

Tom Daley Is Gay, Not Bisexual, Okay?

PA-16329947

IMAGINE this: everyone in the world announces that they’re bisexual. Seems trite, but if everyone was bi, then it would stop the need for people to ‘come out’ and indeed, newspapers wouldn’t need to write stories about people ‘switching sides’ or indeed, as we’re seeing with Tom Daley, clarifying exactly which set of genitals he’s most interested in.

The 19-year-old told the world that he was bi on YouTube in December, saying: “Of course I still fancy girls, but right now, I’m dating a guy and I couldn’t be happier.”

Dayna Morales: Waitress Denied Tip For Being Gay – Internet Goes Crazy And Lovely

UPDATE:   A husband and wife tell NBC 4 New York they did leave a tip. They say they have a credit card statement as proof. The tip was a generous $18. The wife says: “We’ve never not left a tip when someone gave good service, and we would never leave a note like that.”

Morales adds: “I don’t know, all I know is what I’ve been saying.”

Morales had recently announced that people were sending her tips from all over the world, and was donating some of the money to the Wounded Warrior Project. “I just felt like people have a right to know that — it’s fine if people want to donate to her or to the Wounded Warriors, but they’re doing it under a false pretense,” the wife said.

…..

This is the original story:

WE all know that idiots get weird around gay people. Presumably their brains get tied in knots because they constantly and vividly imagine all that sex they do. They get a clear image in their minds about glistening gay naked bodies all writhing around. That’s because, absolutely 100% across the board, bigots are all a bit pervy.

And so to a waitress in New Jersey who had her £10 tip withheld and was left a crappy note by a bigoted customer, allegedly. She says she was denied her tip because she is a gay woman. She told the internet and now, she’s been inundated with more than £1,000 in donations from around the world.

no tip

Russian athlete defends anti-gay laws

RUSSIA’S anti-gay laws are, clearly, bloody preposterous. Quite why Putin & Co would be so worried about who-fancies-who is beyond any logic or reason. Making the whole thing weirder and worse is that small matter of the Sochi Winter Olympics, a tournament steeped in corporate bon homie and a woolly notion of oneness and togetherness.

Church refuses straight weddings until gay marriage is recognised

green street marriage church

RECENTLY in Britain, ‘gay marriage’ became plain old ‘marriage’, but over in America, things aren’t quite as rosy. American’s still love being told what to do by a man from the middle east, it seems. However, one of Jesus’ flock has decided to make a stand by saying that they’ll be stopping straight people from tying the knot until gay marriage gets the green light by the state of North Carolina.

The Green Street United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem has publicly slated North Carolina’s position to prohibit same-sex marriage and “all the rights and privileges marriage brings”.

Carly Rae Jepsen gives the finger to the boy scouts of America

Justin Bieber in concert - London

WHILE Justin Bieber goes into brattish meltdown mode, saying to everyone that it isn’t fair that people are nasty to him (despite the fact that, while trying to take the moral highground after nearly punching a photographer AND slagging Lindsay Lohan off in an Instagram post), his pop pal Carly Rae Jepsen is faring much better.

After hitting the airwaves with the insanely great ‘Call Me Maybe’, she went on tour with Bieber and became a fully fledged popstar.

Mike Freer is a hero of the free

MIKE Freer is Conservative member for Finchley and Golders Green. He gets it. He understands that debating gay marriage and gay rights is an ugly business. The suits debate your freedoms, what is it you are allowed to do with your life. Who gave them the right? Who put them in charge of right and wrong?

Who would chose to be gay – and some still call it a lifestyle choice – and have your life become a matter of public debate? Who would want to be set apart as a special case, something different and questionable?

Vote now for equality. The idea that you have to even vote for it is abhorrent:

Paris Hilton thinks all gay men have AIDS does she?

WHEN Donna Summer made some dodgy comments about AIDS, her glorious career vanished down the toilet. At least Paris Hilton has no talent of note to waste on the back of her claim that most gay men have AIDS.

Doctor Hilton is in the house everyone!

Ellen takes on Prop8 and One Million Moms

AMERICA has some funny ideas about gay people. For some reason, the Christian community has a surprisingly unhealthy interest about which orifice is receiving what. It appears that, if you like someone with the same genitals as you, you are programmed with a completely separate code of values. God forbid. Yes, that was intentional.

And so, with retail giant JC Penney snagging Ellen DeGeneres as their spokesperson, the lumbering religious decided to kick up a stink because, obviously, buying socks from a gay gives you immediate AIDS and injects you with Disco Stu’s entire iPod playlists.

The biggest complainants are One Million Moms who think that gays, frankly, shouldn’t be allowed to do anything. They’re calling for the retailer “to replace Ellen DeGeneres” on their website, and have launched a campaign against JC Penney for not remaining “neutral in the culture war.” Worse still, their business is going to get hurt because DeGeneres is a lesbian and “most of its customers are traditional families.”

Rick Santorum’s anal issue

AS the surprise runner-up for the Republican presidential nomination in Iowa, Rick Santorum faces an uphill struggle to maintain the momentum in the upcoming New Hampshire primaries. This is not just because his campaign funds are relatively low, but also because Santorum’s biggest claim to fame thus far is his association with an unpleasant by-product of anal sex.

Thanks to a campaign by gay rights activists the top result for a Google search for “Santorum” is the website Spreadingsantorum.com. It has nothing to do with furthering the presidential hopeful’s campaign, though. Instead, it is dedicated to spreading awareness of a made-up neologism that ties Santorum’s name to gay sex.

The website dates back to 2003, the year that Santorum told the Associated Press that, although he had “nothing, absolutely nothing, against anyone who’s homosexual”, he did have “a problem with homosexual acts”. Sex columnist Dan Savage decided to launch a competition to name a sex act after Santorum, who was then a Pennsylvania senator. The winning entry defined Santorum as “the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the by-product of anal sex”. Savage then launched Spreadingsantorum.com and as bloggers started to link to the site its Google rankings rose, overtaking the official Rick Santorum homepage.

Rupert Murdoch shows Twitter support to anti-gay marriage Rick Santorum

TWITTER has gained a Rick Santorum fan named Rupert Murdoch, leaving many to deduce that he’s going to try and buy it. Yeah. He did an incredible job with MySpace didn’t he?

Either way, he’s been spouting off like the rest of us… however, Murdoch has already been offending everybody. In his short time online, he’s already slagged off the whole of the UK, slighted Glenn Beck and, perhaps worst of all, shown his support for an American presidential hopeful who wants to nullify all existing gay marriages.

Murdoch said of Rick Santorum, the former Pennsylvania senator who is surging in Iowa polls, Murdoch tweeted Monday night: “Can’t resist this tweet, but all Iowans think about Rick Santorum. Only candidate with genuine big vision for country.” On Sunday he tweeted: “Good to see Santorum surging in Iowa. Regardless of policies, all debates showed principles, consistency and humility like no other.”

Should Sesame Street’s Bert And Ernie Get Married?

SESAME STREET is one of the most forward thinking, progressive shows around. It’s featured civil rights speeches, tackled racism, people talking about their AIDS, poverty… and now, people are calling for it to feature a gay marriage.

And the likely candidates are Bert and Ernie, and there’s even a petition demanding it. They already share a bed and rubber ducky would make an excellent best man.

Anyway, the petition comes from Change.org who want the puppets to teach our children that same-sex marriage is okay. Which it isn’t of course. All marriages are stupid aren’t they? You’d have to be nuts to want to get the State involved in your love.

Miley Cyrus Has Some Gay On Her Finger And Angers God Botherers

DISNEY stars are always expected to be wholesome and Christian. If you get up to mischief, then you’re a ‘disgraced Disney’ alumni. If you are not a Christian, then you’ll probably be cast as a baddie in one of their awful films or TV shows. They’ve got a formula and boy howdy, are they sticking to it.

And so, Miley Cyrus graduated from Hannah Montana and decided to start acting like a irresponsible young adult, just like all the other brilliantly irresponsible adults around the world.

She was caught on video smoking a bong and she’s from a broken home. It’s fantastic. She’s kinda got away with it so far, but now she’s made God botherers cry angry tears all over their Bibles.

Charlize Theron Thinks That Marriage Is For Idiots

MARRIAGE? That’s for idiots. Why on Earth would anyone want to get something as precious and fragile as love and get the government and church involved? You’re just asking for trouble. And Charlize Theron agrees.

The actress thinks that long-term commitment, not marriage, is the priority for her in a relationship. She can afford stupid rings and is the centre of attention wherever she goes, so sod dressing up like a meringue and throwing a party that is, essentially, the same as a funeral, but the star of the show actually gets to enjoy the post-gig drink.

Theron says:

“I really want for myself a long-term relationship, and I have been in long-term relationships. That’s the kind of union that I want. The actual ceremony is not something that is important to me, but I see the importance for other people.”

“I treat my relationships like marriages, I really do. [Marriage was] “never something that was important.”
