Jesse Jackson’s Hymies, Mel Gibson’s ‘Niggers’ And Glass Houses

THAT glass house Jesse Jackson lives in should be showing some cracks about now, writes Anorak’s Man in LA on the Mel Gibson Racist Rant Sequel.

Jackson released a written statement to Radar Online Thursday about Gibson’s recent and previous rants.

His penchants for anti-Semitic and racist diatribes reveal the actor’s fundamental character flaw,” wrote Jackson.  “He needs help.”

Hi, Pot. Our Man in LA would like introduce Mr. Kettle.  You two have more in common than you realize.

Boris Johnson Dances In HairSpray: Pictures

LONDON Mayor Boris Johnson spoke and moved at the T Mobile Big Dance Launch, at London’s Palladium theatre. The mayor took part in a one-off performance of You Can’t Stop The Beat from the musical HairSpray. Boris wore his Comfi-Suit, an outfit which allows lots of room for movement. The suit is big enough to make the casual observer believe Boris is dancing like an evangelical dervish in his clothes – it is just that the clothes aren’t moving all that much. This might explain why Boris often looks like circus performer in his mobile big tent…

Jeremy Hunt Is Rhyming Slang In Liverpool

JEREMY Hunt is now rhyming slang in some parts of Liverpool. The Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt suggested that hooliganism had played a part in the Hillsborough football disaster when 96 Liverpool fans died.

Well, it did. Had it not been for hooliganism, there would have been no fencing around the Hillsborough pitch. But that is not what Hunt meant. He said that the “terrible problems” of “Heysel and Hillsborough in the 1980s seem now to be behind us.”

Nick Clegg Meets The Government’s First Celebrity Guest: Christy Turlington

AND the first celebrity to meet with the coalition Government is… (rustles envelope; buffs shoes on trouser legs) Christy Turlington. The supermodel met Nick Clegg in the Cabinet Office to speak about maternal health ahead of the G8 summit. Turlington wore a light cappuccino V-neck loose fitting smock top with ruffled epaulets on top of black wool-frog skin Comfi-Slax (Anorak own brand) and leather flats. Mrs Clegg wore a broad grin and the air of expectancy.

Gen Stanley McChrystal Scapegoats Obama And The Politicans

IN the closing stages of the film, A Bridge Too Far, we saw Generals Urqhart and Browning starting to distance themselves from what was then evident as a military disaster, with Browning uttering the immortal words: “I always felt we tried to go a bridge too far.”

There seems to me to be something of this with Gen Stanley McChrystal and his interview with Rolling Stone magazine. With the man admitting that everything said was on the record, and the magazine checking back with the General’s aides before using the quotes, we have on the face of it an example of a senior soldier committing professional suicide.

Chris Huhne: A Hypocrite, A Bisexual Trimingham An A Green Joke

CHRIS Huhne has left his wife Vicky Pryce for Carina Trimingham. The Mail leads with news that Huhne is the “MINSTER FOR HYPOCRISY”.

How so?

Deplorable hypocrisy”, says the Mail?

Again. How so? Well, at the election Huhne plugged his family in election leaflets and lent his name to the words:

“Family matters to me so much – where would we be without them?”

Well, Huhne was, allegedly, shagging his lover at his family home. So, unless the question is rhetorical, we’d answer: “at home.”

THE Energy secretary Chris Huhne announces that is separating from his wife Vicky Pryce because of a “serious relationship” with the P.G. Wodehouse-inspired Carina Trimingham, Mr Huhne’s press manager for the 2010 election.

At least the PR response should be good. She is also Campaigns Director of the Electoral Reform Society. It just gets better and better for the Tories.

Vicky Pryce is the chief economist at the Department for Business Innovation and Skills.

In Great Photos: Carla Bruni Lays An Earring At Charles De Gaulle’s Statue

PRIME Minister David Cameron, his wife Samantha, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni had tea in 10 Downing street, London today. It’s the 70th anniversary of General Charles de Gaulle’s radio broadcast urging his nation to resist the Nazi occupation of France. To mark the occasion Italian-born Carla Bruni lay an earring at the statue of Charles de Gaulle. He appreciated the gesture. No need for a golden cloak. An earring will do. Apology accepted…

Pictutes of note: 2 – the laying of the earring; 6 – Little Dave;  – 13 – Are you bored too?; 17 – Do I look taller now..?

Forget Bloody Sunday – It’s The Ballymurphy Massacre Inquiry We Want

BLOODY Sunday is salved with the Saville report. The killed 14 were innocent. The British Army killed their own countrymen. But what of other killings? What of the Ballymurphy Massacre? Eleven died. Between the 9th and 11th of August 1971, during Operation Demetrius, Francis Quinn, Hugh Mullan, Joan Connolly, Daniel Teggart, Noel Phillips, Joseph Murphy, Edward Doherty, JohnLaverty, Joseph Corr, John McKerr and Paddy McCarthy died.

Richard Borth investigates:

Bloody Sunday – in pictures

How much traction this is going to get is difficult to judge. So far, only the BBC seems to have covered it – the so-called Ballymurphy Massacre in August 1971, just short of six months before Bloody Sunday. Then, 11 people – ten men, including a local priest, Father Hugh Mullan, who was shot while giving the last rites to a dying man, and a mother of eight children – were killed, again by soldiers from 1 Para.

Now, on the back of the Saville Report, the relatives are demanding their own inquiry into what they claim is the brutality of the Paras, remarking on the similarities with Bloody Sunday where the British system also “connived in a cover-up.”

“There’s a very attractive girl in the second row, dark . . . and dusky. We’ll maybe put a wee word out for her.

“She’s very attractive looking, nice, very nice, very slim,” before adding: “The heat’s getting to me…

“She looks kinda . . . she’s got that Filipino look. You know . . . the kind you’d see in a Gaugin painting. There’s a wee bit of culture.”

Barack Obama Is Less Popular Than Offshore Drilling: BP News Round-Up

BP oil spills into the US Gulf. Barack Obama tries to sound Churchillian, talking of an “assault” on America’s beaches and nation under “siege”. Obama wrests £13.5bn from BP as compensation down payment. BP chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg says BP will not pay a dividend to its shareholders. The news:

DRILL BABY DRILL:

Most Americans still support offshore drilling and believe it is critical to making the U.S. competitive, despite the growing oil spill along the Gulf coast, a new poll showed on Wednesday …

In a national survey of 522 adults, on a scale of 0 to 10, the average show of support was 6.3 when asked if the government should allow offshore drilling.

An Anorak readers writes:

Obama is milking this for all it is worth to the American people and starting to come across as quite disgusting and it is not helping his low ratings, since BP had already stated weeks ago it would take care of everything.

Down with Obama!

A Record 57% Of Americans Disapprove Of Obama’s Performance

Daniel Hannan On The Isolated Obama

Not that we should feel singled out. The Obama administration has scorned America’s other established friends. It has betrayed Poland and the Czech Republic, whose Atlanticist governments had agreed to accept the American missile defence system at immense political cost, only to find the project cancelled. It has alienated Israel and India. It has even managed to fall out with Canada over its “Buy American” rules and its decision to drill in disputed Arctic waters. Never has there been a worse time to be a US ally.

David Cameron Reacts:

Cameron said he wouldn’t enter into “megaphone diplomacy” with Obama in the face of calls from listeners to the show for him to take a more aggressive stance in defense of the London- based company.

Daily Mail leader:

Mr Obama gave a televised address in which he once again attempted to rescue his own faltering popularity by attacking what his administration has been careful to characterise as a foreign oil company.

After BP the US Labels Milk As The Next Big Pollutant

BP will place $20 billion in an escrow account for the Gul clean up – and the US Environmental Protection Agency considers the next bio-hazard: milk. Milk is now a pollutant.

The BP Wave – The Fish In Oil Picture

The Environmental Protection Agency intends to classify milk as a hazardous waste; in the same category as oil.

That means, farmers would have to come up with an oil spill prevention plan which could cost them thousands of dollars.

The Senate Agricultural Committee passed a resolution today urging the EPA to take back those regulations.

In Pictures: Did Ed Balls Cheat At Newsnight’s Labour Leadership Contest?

DID you see the Labour leadership candidates – Ed Balls (nominative determinism), Ed Miliband (Gromit), Diane Abbott (the Tory dream), Andy Burnham (what I did in my school holidays) and David Miliband (old wonky face) were making their pitches to lose the next election on BBC Newsnight.

They drew lots in the green room for the order they will be speaking. Did Ed Balls peek? And does it matter where Ed Miliband stands because like some Picasso painting you can see both his eyes even when he’s in profile.

As for the policies… Well, they all agreed to agree with moving on and not looking back before telling us how great Tony Blair was…

Barack Obama, David Cameron And The Mystery Of Robert Green’s Slick Gloves: Pictures

DAVID Cameron might consider himself fortunate there is war on. He gets to stand among the troops at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province and look hard.

And tough Dave’s been on the phone to Barack Obama to remind him that soaking Robert Green’s gloves in BP oil was an inspired ploy and left everyone feeling equal and happy.

England V USA: One Green Disaster After Another Green Disaster

Dave and Barry then, apparently, had a chat on the phone, although we think such calls should take place on a party line and give us all chance to listen in. Downing Street then issued a press release:

World Cup: England v USA Death Blog (Pictures)

President Obama said to the prime minister that BP was a multinational global company and that frustrations about the oil spill had nothing to do with national identity. The prime minister stressed the economic importance of BP to the UK, US and other countries. The president made it clear that he had no interest in undermining BP’s value.”

Britons Wake Up To Realisation That Obama Is An Opportunistic, Vain Politician

BARACK Obama. What a ****. Not our words, not those of “sweetheart” Kayla Manson (no relation), but the opinion of the Mail which says The One’s posturing to the US electorate over the BP oil spill. As the headline yells:

“OBAMA IS KILLING ALL OUR PENSIONS”

Considering Obama views Britain in much the same way Great Britain views Gibraltar this is not too shocking. He stood Grodon Brown up for the scouts and loved the slave gift.  The popular consensus is that £1 in every £7 in the nation’s pension pot is driven by investment in BP. Obama talks of slamming BP and we suffer.

BP And Tony Hayward Are Now A Nigerian Scam: Letter

London Mayor Boris Johnson, calls on Obama to end the anti-British rhetoric, buckpassing and name-calling”.

David Cameron oozes out of a tap and drips:

“I completely understand the U.S. government’s frustration because it’s an environmental catastrophe.”

President Barack Obama says he’d have asked BP Chief Executive Officer Tony and want to find an “ass to kick”.
