Daily Mail Turns Reading ‘Footballers Gang Rape’ Into A Game

WHEN in March 2011, six men were jailed for raping two 12-year-old girls in Reading, they were identified first and foremost as footballers.

The guilty, who admitted rape, were:

Courtney Amos,19, Ashley Charles, 20, Dennis De Sousa, 18, Jahson Downes, 20, Jahvon Edwards, 19, and Luke Farrugia, 21.

Now, the six have been freed on appeal. The Mail’s Paul Bracchi writes beneath the headline:

Raped at 12 by a gang of footballers – but judges say it’s the victims’ fault and frees them. Now one of the victims talks about the sickening events of that night.

Impoverished Daily Mail Hack Liz Jones Buys New Face For £13,145: Dogs Are Delighted

LIZ Jones, the Daily Mail hijack who was not murdered in Bristol, has had a facelift. It cost £13,145. You might have read about in that in the Daily Mail on June 17.

You can also read this gem from the impoverished hack, as she wrote way, way back in February 2011.

The day before my brother’s funeral, I get a visit from the taxman… It’s freezing because the Aga has broken. He writes down a figure. I feel sick when he shows it to me… Perhaps I can sell my car, but it has 100,000 miles on the clock… I have gone from living in a Georgian house with a convertible, to being the sort of person who can’t afford to turn on the heating, with a car people think is scrap metal. It doesn’t really get any worse than this, does it?

Daily Mail Lambastes Terry Pratchett’s TV Suicide Show While Advertising Duncan Bannatyne’s Twitter Suicide

IN Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die, Peter Smedley, 71, committed assisted suicide. He had motor neurone disease. He had gone to Switzerland to die at an euthanasia clinic.

The Daily Mail sees its chance to hit the BBC. It talks of hundreds of complaints. Complaints are the barometer of righteousness. The more complains, the more wrong the thing is and the more demanding of more outrage.

The money quote soon comes:

Nola Leach, chief executive of CARE, said: ‘I rather thought that we had moved on from the days when people gathered in crowds to watch other people die.

Osama Bin Laden’s Martyr’s Sea Burial: The Truth About Muslim Radicals

OSAMA Bin Laden is buried in a “Martyr’s Sea”. Well, so say “Muslim radicals”. Richard Bartholomew investigates more media hype in the Daily Mail:

From the Daily Mail, a few days ago:

Radical Muslims are already calling the site of Osama bin Laden’s ocean burial the ‘Martyr’s Sea’, according to one of Britain’s leading Islamic scholars.

…Abdal Hakim Murad, Muslim Chaplain at Cambridge University, claimed yesterday that the move could backfire on the Americans.

…Speaking on Radio 4′s ‘Today’ programme, he said it was ‘disappointing’ that bin Laden wasn’t taken into custody.

‘By tipping him into the sea, the Americans may have created a kind of shrine. Some radicals are already calling the Arabian Sea the Martyr’s Sea,’ he said.

…’Given Muslim ideas of holiness diffusing over large areas it is possible that a pilgrimage will develop as radicals stand on beaches contemplating the virtues of their dead hero,’ he added.

Richard Littlejohn Says British Should Not Mourn Racist Japan: Is He Beyond Parody?

RICHARD Littlejohn takes the time to tell Daily Mail readers that if his wife’s grandfather were alive today he would not have shed a tear for thousands of Japanese killed by a tsunami:

Like thousands of other British servicemen who were tortured in Japanese prisoner-of-war camps, my wife’s late grandfather, Harold Tuck, would never have joined a minute’s silence for Japan.

Always good to know what the dead would have done. It honours them, right?

Daily Mail Insults Japan With City Traders’ ‘Perfect Storm’

ALEX Brummer, the Mail’s City Editor, is showing readers that the death and destruction in Japan might hurt the British. To compare the risk felt by a loss of cash to the loss of life and home is disrespectful to the Japanese. The City pages have no place amid photos of massive destruction. They only serve to make British readers part of the story. But they are not.

But worse than that is the sub-editor who has headlined Brummer’s words with:

ALEX BRUMMER: Tsunami adds a new wave of global risk

MONDAY VIEW: Global economies will be rocked by Japan aftershock

IN this Brave New World, the children can learn erotic play from books like How Did I Begin? by Mick Manning and Brita Granstrom. The book features “a cartoon image of a couple in bed in an intimate embrace”.

The Mail highlights a passage:

“As they cuddled, your dad’s penis moved gently inside your mum’s vagina and the sperms flowed out.”

So says the Mail, which has seen a report by the Christian Institute:

It is accompanied by an explanation – using frank and adult terminology – of the act of intercourse.

Daily Mail Exposes Unfair Tory Internships: Georgina Littlejohn Not Mentioned

THE Daily Mail says that David Cameron has been accused of “gross insensitivity” for his part in the sale of internships with City hedge funds to “wealthy Tories’ children for thousands of pounds to raise cash for the party”.

At the Conservatives’ Black and White Party, millionaire Tory supporters paid around £3,000 each for their children to have the golden chance of spending a week or two with a number of top finance companies and banks. If they do well and win a full-time job, they could join the ranks of City tycoons who earn multi-million pound bonuses.

This is the Daily Mail, wherein you can now read the words of columnist Richard Littlejohn’s talented daughter Georgina Littlejohn.

The Daily Mail’s Hypocrisy Over Richard Keys And Andy Gray’s Sexism

RICHARD Keys and Andy Gray have left Sky Sports to take up jobs at TalkSport. The Daily Mail must be delighted that their sexism has seen them so demoted. After all its Matt Lawton wrote:

That was certainly a common gripe among the football-writing community, with Gray almost coming to blows with one much-respected reporter who once dared object to his arrogance…He has, of course, damaged the Sky brand with his deeply offensive remarks. As, of course, has his co-presenter Richard Keys. Two men who Dame Judi Dench, in her role as Ian Fleming’s ‘M’, might have called sexist, misogynist dinosaurs…

They got too comfortable, too big for their boots and, in the end, exposed themselves as the men who were out of touch. As Gray discovered yesterday, what goes around comes around.

All good stuff. and it might make interesting reading for the Mail’s Steve Curry who in 2007 reacted to the news that Jacqui Oatley had been  made a commentator on Match Of The Day, the BBC’s football highlights show, thus:

Daily Mail Warns That American Muslims Are Coming

APOLOGIES to those of you who emailed in to say that we had missed the Mail’s news that the “Number of British Muslims will double to 5.5m in 20 years”.

The wonderfully named Steve Doughty’s piece based on guessology by the Pew Centre is illustrated by photo of a woman in a burka ready to march across a map of the world. The impression is that more Muslims is not a good thing.

JOANNA Yeates’s alleged killer Vincent Tabak is in court. And Chris Jefferies – the man monstered by the media – remains under police bail. He may yet have his day in court.

While we wait for the next instalment, let’s take a moment to look back at the Mail’s handling of the story do far. And it’s all about the question and how one woman’s death can be turned into a form of entertainment you can play along with at home. The question will be printed on cards and each player will deliver their answer in the form of a report. Bonus points will awarded for use of the word “blonde” and creating new questions:

Daily Mail Says Elizabeth Edwards Was Bitter And Twisted When She Died: John Edwards Might Weep

ELIZABETH Edwards has died. Her widow, John Edwards – a man who might have been President of the US; a man whose affair was exposed by the National Enquirer (he had a baby by Democratic campaign aide Rielle Hunter) – is the target of a negative Daily Mail piece.

She has left her worldly goods to her children: Cate, 28, Emma Claire, 12 and 10-year-old Jack.

The Mail interprets this as:

Elizabeth Edwards’s revenge from beyond the grave after she cut cheating husband John out of will days before death

Nice headline, eh. Making out a woman was bitter and vengeful as she died. Making out a woman wanted to punish their children’s dad after her death. Nice work, Daily Mail Reporter.
