The Strange Case Of The Daily Star And Richard Peppiatt’s Death Threats

WHEN Richard Peppiatt resigned from the Daily Star for, as he claims, the paper’s anti-Muslim bias and writing stories “simply plucked from my arse”, he achieved a kind of fame and surely gave a lift to his mooted new career as a writer of a TV show about life on a tabloid newspaper.

Angry Mob wondered if the Star would not dig up dirt on him:

“A personal attack on him – irrespective of what was dug up – would only increase the wider support for him – and increase his fame.”

The Girls And Guts Of The Heart Attack Grill: Photos

RIP Blair River, face, guts and now coffin of the Heart Attack Grill, Arizona, and its Quadruple Bypass Burger. He died from complications with pneumonia. Jon Basso my be siappitned by the death certificate. As he said:

“I run…the only honest restaurant in America. Hey, this is bad for you, and it’s gonna kill you.”

But, perhaps, worse than the murder burger is the assumption that looking at scantily-clad enabling women in fetish wear will kill you. It’s won’t. But it will make you go blind:

Will Goga Ashkenazi’s Words Inspire Us To Rise Up Slaughter Prince Andrew?

FOR the fourth day running the Daily Mail leads with Prince Andrew. Today, the randy golf bore who thought Sarah Ferguson an ideal wife is pictured with President Ilham Aliyez in Azerbaijan.

The Mail thunders:

“THE DUKE AND THE DESPOT”

This is not news. That the Duke has visited the country eight times in five years is a matte of public record. The country described as “oil rich”. It is. And because it has oil it can be linked to other oil producing nations, like Venezuela, where Libya’s Colonel Gaddafi isn’t living just now:

Azerbaijan plans to foray into markets in the Americas this spring as a part of a swap-deal between it, Belarus and Venezuela, the Azeri state energy company said on Friday.

According to a deal brokered last year, Azerbaijan will supply crude oil to Belarus on behalf of Venezuela and, in return, the Latin American country will provide its Santa Barbara oil to meet Azerbaijan’s export commitments to the Americas markets.

Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere Starts Work As A Journalist In Barcelona: Photos

LAST night Arsenal lost to Barcelona in the Champions League. Massimo Busacca, the man Martin Samuel calls “merciless Massimo” is the Swiss referee who sent off the Gunners’ Robin Van Persie for kicking the ball a second after the whistle had blown. And the game was up.

The talk is of argument and arbitrary decisions. But football is about facts. The score says much. But what of those other facts the media likes to pepper its reporting with?

As ever the news media is factual:

The Game:

“We were not perfect, but we have got the result. We have come through and that is what is important,” – Pep Guardiola, Press TV

“We played the perfect game” – Pep Guardiola, Irish Independent

A Pictorial History Of The Suffragettes: When Brave Women Fought Hard And Dirty To Be Heard

IT’S International Women’s Day. Right now in Saudi Arabia, women are thinking that much harder about not voting. Women’s suffrage goes on.

In London, free and talented women like Paloma Faith, VV Brown, Annie Lennox and a 105-year-old former suffragette named Hetty Bower went to the statue of Emmeline Pankhurst in Victoria Tower Gardens.

Says Anorak reader Robert Carter:

It’s a shame that we need to have a single day a year to remind us that women are the equals of men. But, for the other 364* days, people do seem to forget. * It has been pointed out that next year is a leap year – so it’s 365 international men’s days, in fact.

Women’s suffrage is no lacy artefact. Women’s rights are hard won. It was brutal.

Stones were thrown through the windows of Buckingham Palace. They were kept for posterity by Queen Mary. A small explosive device was placed in Westminster Abbey. The villain left behind part of her feather boa.

Arson attacks against property held by political figures, railway stations and even churches, increased in number as the struggle for women’s rights became more militant in nature. The Tea Pavillion in Kew Gardens was torched.

Kyron Horman: Watching The Oregon Police Hang Themselves

KYRON Horman: An Anorak reader in the US provides us with an update on the  case of the missing Oregon schoolboy. The police have yet to ascertain what happened to him, let alone find him.  Instead they continue to focus on Terri Horman, Kyron’s step-mother. The witch hunt goes on:

On December 4 2010, Sheriff Dan Staton gave an exclusive to OregonLive:

“The sheriff is pushing for something to shake loose by Feb. 1, the end of a 120-day deadline he set for the task force and when he reports to county commissioners about the status of an investigation that has cost nearly $1.4 million as of Nov. 29.

“The scope is narrowing. My belief is we should be relatively close to something by then; that’s why I set the time frame I did,” Staton said. “While we may not be at an arrest or an indictment phase, we’re going to have it narrowed down to a point where we may be calling out a suspect, identifying certain people or things.”

Staton has been blowing that smoke since last June. Now, we learn that six FBI agents have been drafted in to work on the case. Staton revealed this development during a February 24th meeting with the Multnomah County Commissioners.

The Daily Mail Gives You Cancer: The Dangers Of Recycled Newspaper

RECYCLED cardboard can kill you. Yep, new stuff is better than reused stuff. Who knew? The BBC reports that mineral oils from recycled newspapers have been found in paper and card.

But not everyone is in agreement as to how bad it is:

Cereal firm Jordans has stopped using recycled cardboard… Kellogg’s and Weetabix said they were taking steps to reduce the amount of mineral oil in their packaging.

Prince Andrew Is Spanked: Sarah Ferguson Claims Jeffrey Epstein Abused Her

PRINCE Andrew: Having allegedly cupped the breast of a teenager called Virginia Roberts, who claims she was sexually abused by Andrew’s former friend Jeffery Epstein (they were pals as recently as last December), the Queen’s second son is in the mire. The news media reacts:

The Times (front page): “Fresh questions for Duke over links to Kazakhstan.”

The President of that country’s son, one Timur Kulibayev, bought the Duke’s £12m Sunninghill Park house for £3million over the asking price.

The paper says the place is blessed with “all the architectural charm of a Tesco superstore”. (Sarah Ferguson lives there.)

The deal was “secured” by Gaukhar Ashkenazi (aka Goga), a Kazakh socialite who earlier had accompanied Andrew to Ascot, where she met the Queen. Mr Kulibayev is the father of Goga’s son.

Phil Collins Commits To Suicide On A Bike In Switzerland

PHIL Collins says  “no one will miss me“.  Collins  is not committing suicide – although he does live in Switzerland, where the Government is not insensitive to the effects of fierce civic pride on the psyche.

He’s retiring from music. Yep, you thought he bowed out years ago. But Collins tells FHM that he’s now officially out of music and “I don’t think anyone’s going to miss me. I’m much happier just to write myself out of the script entirely…”

Good of to tell us that he irrelevant and unlamented. God speed, Phil:

“I’m a very different person now. I saw some of this show of mine from 1985 and I was on-stage and I never stopped running, never stopped talking. The fact that people got so sick of me wasn’t really my fault. Yes there was a lot of me to dish out – there was me, me and Earth, Wind & Fire’s Phil Bailey, me and Genesis, me and that movie I was in, Buster – there was a lot of stuff. But I only made those records once.”

Joanna Yeates: Is Chris Jefferies Raising Funds For His Libel Case Against Newspapers?

JOANNA Yeates: Anorak was wrong: Chris Jefferies libel case never reached court before anyone appeared in the dock for the murder of the Bristol women. Vincent Tabak says he’s innocent. Chris Jefferies certainly is.

Chris Jefferies was given the full Robert Murat in the press. The Star, Sun, Mail and Telegraph seemed less than sympathetic to Mr Jefferies.

Jefferies was caught in the media frenzy that saw the voracious press undecided over a basic fact like the victim’s name – was she called Joanna or “Joanne”? – and confusing a verge with a“ditch“.

Prince Andrew And Epstein: Hang The Tyrants It’s The Sex We Don’t Like

MORE proof that the Duke and Duchess of York were well suited in the Mail, which continues its investigation into Randy Andy’s relationship with billionaire paedophile Jeffery Epstein.

Jam Magazine: Charlie Sheen Nightmares With Cox And Gallagher

THE News of the World launches men’s supplement Jam – what a very sad and tired retread of masculine fetishes it is. The title alone is a pre-Loaded memento mori – y’know, bedroom air guitars. Nasty lank hair.Wanking.

Cover boy Liam Gallagher is a ’21st Century Boy’ when the b/w pic harks back to the mid-90s. Yellow-toothed David Bailey snaps the portrait, sooo 60s, darling.

CHARLIE Sheen has been on Sheen’s Korner on the internet, an hour long show in which the self-styled tiger warlock creates Sheenisms from the fairy dust and a-grade bogies between his ears.

The UStream webcast featured 100,000 viewers at its peak, almost 99,000 of which were waiting for Sheen’s goddesses to appear and turn down the duvet.

The show can be summed up on one line from Sheen’s elegant mouth:

“Now what? We’re out of material.”

The Creepiest Adverts With Children Ever: A Gallery Of Evil

ADVERTS featuring children can be as unsettling as kiddie unfriendly album covers. Anorak’s favourite modern ad with children is the “It’s in the sand” advert for the AA. But once upon a time the kids weren’t just sadistic little sods – they were undiluted evil, eyeing up knives (picture 5 is a treat), guns and barbiturates with shiny-eyed glee:

When Prince Andrew Partied With Billionaire Paedophile, Sarah Kellen And Nadia Marcinkova

PRINCE Andrew, the country’s ‘Trade Envoy’, is making more news for his relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew was recently pictured walking with billionaire Epstein in New York after the sex criminal was released from jail – he served “13 months of an 18-month sentence for soliciting prostitution from minors”. The Prince has not reacted to the stories.

But the media are gunning for him. The NoTW is careful to say:

There is no suggestion that the prince ever did anything improper.

Isn’t there? The paper then adds:

But, when quizzed under oath by lawyers, Epstein’s bedroom slave Nadia Marcinkova refused to say if she had sex with Andrew.

Well, true enough. But a refusal is an admittance of nothing. She also refused to say that she didn’t have sex with Andrew. And she could only respond to the questions put to her. The name Prince Andrew has been used deliberately. The lawyer asking her who she had sex with might have added any number of names to the question: “Did you have sex with Osama in Laden at Mr Epstein’s home last week?” I take the Fifth. And then, maybe, I sell the book and work the TV circuit.

Last week, we met Virginia Roberts, who claims she was shagging Epstein she was a minor aged 15. Now we get the second woman:

There is no evidence the Duke of York – fourth in line to the throne – had any sexual contact during his visits to Epstein’s luxurious Florida spread. But the refusal of his host’s associates to deny it raises yet more questions about his judgement.

Madeleine McCann: The Disappearance Of Rui Pedro Teixeira Mendonca

MADELEINE McCann is back in the news. News International, having secured the newspaper rights to the McCanns’ official book, publish a story in the News of The World that “suspect” Raymond Hewlett “said his wife would ‘go mental’ if she was asked about the missing girl in a dramatic video recorded before his death”.

This would be Mariana Schmuecker, who last week was telling the NoTW:

When the News of the World confronted her the callous German just snarled: “Clear off! I’m sick to death of hearing about Maddie McCann!”

Does the paper wish for an innocent woman to be driven “mental”? Last week, the paper delivered this line:

But Mariana, who suddenly shipped off to Morocco with Hewlett just three weeks after Maddie’s disappearance, has stayed tight- lipped – even about her partner’s flawed alibi.

Is this not as suggestion of guilt by association with a convicted sex criminal who was also not guilty of kidnapping the child and who despite being called the “Maddie paedo” and “Maddie Pervert” in the tabloids claims he never met the girl?

SUN: Why don’t you eliminate yourself from the inquiry for the sake of the McCanns?
HEWLETT: I don’t have to speak to you. F*** off.

The EDL Hit Rochdale With Stories Of Peadophile Muslims: Richard Peppiatt’s Daily Star Might Like It

THE English Defence League were demonstrating against Muslims outside Rochdale Town Hall by the town’s cenotaph today. Unite Against Fascism were, as ever, there to counter the EDL. There were 35 arrests.

But why was  the EDL there? The local Rochdale paper tells us:

A speaker from the EDL spoke through a tannoy and said that the EDL were there because of recent reports about child sexual exploitation in Rochdale.

Reporter Richard Peppiatt Quits Daily Star For Anti-Muslim, Pro EDL Lies

RICHARD Peppiatt has resigned his job as a Daily Star reporter over its “sympathetic” coverage of the English Defence League and his presenting entirely fictional stories about celebrities as hard news. There goes the job at OK!.

Writes Peppiatt in a letter to the paper’s owner Richard Desmond:

“You may have heard the phrase ‘the flap of a butterfly’s wings in Brazil sets off a tornado in Texas’. Well, try this: ‘The lies of a newspaper in London can get a bloke’s head caved in down an alley in Bradford.’ If you can’t see that words matter, you should go back to running porn magazines…

“The weight of your ownership rests heavy on the shoulders of everyone, from the editor to the bloke who empties the bins.”

Charlie Sheen Interview: Michael Jackson’s Amateur Drugs And Being A Water Dragon

CHARLIE Sheen, who lives with resting porn star Rachel Oberlin (aka Bree Olson – photos) and Natalie Kenly (aka The Nanny) is talking with Pete Samson, the Sun’s US editor.

Sheen has been getting into character for his role as Colonel Gaddafi in the biopic of the Libyan dictator’s life, unfurling an umbrella up his urethra and declaring himself clean and fit to rule.

Highlights of the interview with the self-styled warlock possessed of curative tiger blood in his veins (this might be the break Julian Sands has been waiting for – the Frosties gig is his to lose) are:

The Domain:

“The Goddesses rule. They rule the kingdom. I got a chance to label them before the world did and now they’re the Goddesses. Those two are like the toughest cats in the room.”

The Bahrain Google Earth Photos That Sparked A Revolution: Photos

THE images you are about to see were circulated in Bahrain at the time of the (so far) failed attempt to overthrow the ruling dynasty. The Government was aware of these images and blocked Google Earth. But the internet will have its way and the pictures were loaded onto a PDF guide and distributed by email.

The NYT’s Tom Friedman says the photos are one of the “not-so-obvious forces” that fed the mass revolt.
